Chapter 137: His Confession.
As Ivy dropped the phone, she sighed as she turned to Sites. He had returned to his deck and was acting like he was avoiding her
“That was Cole” she said, hoping it would get him to start taking again. “He said Geo is ready to see detective Spence
“Cool” Silas said flatly, fiddling with the pen on the desk
Ivy’s stomach twisted with his tone. Since he had come to pick her from the hosp, las had been keeping his distance
It was when she went to her room that she realized he had packed at his items back to his room.
And here she was, trying to have any form of communication with him.
“Should we talk about it?”
“Oh now you want to talk about it?” he snapped as he turned to face her. “What happened when you ran to Theresa’s house? You didn’t want to talk about it then?”
She bit her lip and looked away without saying anything.
“What were you even doing in a hospital?” he asked, standing up from his desk.
She took a step back and then told him everything from Aunt May’s trick to her father’s statement.
Silas‘ mouth curved into a frown. “What? He said that?”
“Yes, I bet Cole wanted to talk about it too, Ivy replied, her mind drifting to her conversation with Cole.
“Your father has the audacity to demand that of you, after everything!” Silas snapped, visibly annoyed.
“I told him that, she replied.
Silas went silent for a while before he spoke again. “What do you want to do?”
She looked at him and laughed. “What? Nothing. I have nothing to do. He can’t ride on what he didn’t work for”
As Ivy said that, her chest swelled with pride. She had come a long way to change her life and all the pain, the hurt had been worth it.
“Alright then,” Silas said and then turned back to his desk.
Ivy sighed as she watched him sit down.
“You know the contract ends in a few weeks, Silas said, without turning from the table.
“Oh,” she gasped, her heart flopping with shock and… longing. She couldn’t believe it was almost six months already.
“But,” Silas said, standing again. This time he walked up to her, the movement catching her by surprise, and she gasped again, her cheeks burning.
He placed his hand on her waist and drew her closer. “It doesn’t have to end.”
She blinked. “What are you talking about?”
“I’m saying we should make it official. I love you Ivy, I’ve said it a billion times. I have loved you since the day I saw you in that black gown, sitting alone in that bar.” He lowered his mouth to her neck, pressing himself against her stomach.
“And when I tasted you that night. God, I wanted more and more, Silas said, bringing his lips to her lips.
She parted them, responding to him with a hunger that terrified her. She told herself she was doing this because it was going to be over soon. Like a goodnight kiss. Like sweet dreams you embrace just because you know you will never feel it again.
But deep down, she knew she was lying.
She was kissing him because she was terrified. It was over, all those lovely were going to be over.
Silas drew his lips away and rocked her. She moaned, wrapping her hand around his neck.
“Marry me again.”
Ivy froze in his arms, her chest tightened. “Silas…”
“We are already married. So it changes nothing,” he said firmly, planting kisses on her cheeks and neck.
His kiss distracted her for a moment, and sheather

“Your kiss makes it difficult for me to think,” she said with a chuckle, then pulled him even closer.
But instead of coming to her, Silas straightened up.

Her heart flipped at the action. “What?”
“I’m not kissing you so you don’t get distracted. So what do you say?” he sat upright, keeping his hands to himself.
Ivy’s stomach churned as she sat up too.
He was serious!
Silas was dead serious.
“Silas…”
“Say it Ivy,” he said, his eyes narrowed as he stood up from the bed.
Ivy hugged herself as his words settled in her chest. She couldn’t do this marriage thing again.
It had been easier with Silas because it was a contract marriage, but now, him asking for more was just…. too much.
Silas folded his arms, though his eyes were soft. “So?”
She sighed, regret eating her from inside. “Silas…”
“Not even because I love you?” he asked, his voice filled with an unhidden pain.
“It’s… complicated.”
“Yeah,” he said, looking away.
The regret deepened and Ivy stood up from the bed, trying to explain herself. “Si—”
“It’s okay,” Silas replied curtly. “Sorry I asked. Once the contract is over, you’re free.”
“Silas,” Ivy called, but he had already returned to his desk. And this time she had a feeling he wasn’t listening to her.
Yet, she tried again. “Silas…”
He didn’t even act like he saw her. Ivy waited for him to say anything, but when he didn’t budge, she finally left.
Ivy locked the door behind her and trudged to her room. Her heart was tight with emotions and she wished it could be better.
The day had started off promising. Ivysion Photography was official, yet she couldn’t enjoy the fruits of her labor.
She sank into the bed and took off her shoes. She was about to take off her clothes when her phone buzzed. She reached for it on her table and saw that it was Aunt May calling.
She frowned before she answered. “Hello.”
“I know you’re mad at me,” May said softly. “I’m sorry. I shouldn’t have done that.”
“Yes, you shouldn’t have,” Ivy replied, slightly annoyed.
“I thought he was going to apologize but he didn’t.”
Ivy tried to not to think about the whole event with her father. She hated that so many things took away the joy of her grand opening.
And now she wants to feel it, but it was under a huge pile of emotions; emotions she didn’t want to reach.
“How’s Ryan and Rita?” Ivy asked, her voice gentle.
“Good. Ryan is feeling better now,” May replied. “I’m just calling to apologize.”
“It’s okay, Aunt May. It’s not your fault.”
“Thank you my sweet girl, would you come to see us soon?” May asked.
“Yes, I will,” she promised. “Goodbye.”
“Bye my girl,” May said and ended the call.
Ivy dropped the phone, still refusing to think about the whole day. As she was about to enter the bathroom to make herself a bath, her phone rang again.
With a groan she reached for it, and saw that it was Theresa called.
“Hello T,” she answered.
“Hey Ivy, I’m sorry, I didn’t know when you left,” Theresea said, her tone apologetic.
“It’s fine.”
“I shouldn’t have neglected you, but I got upset about Wilson, and you know…”
“Yes I do,” Ivy replied softly. “It’s really fine. Silas brought me home.”
“Oh, the lovebirds are back together!” Theresa cheered.
Ivy laughed but as her mind drifted to Silas’s words, her stomach knotted with fear. She didn’t want to think about it, yet as

she tried to stifle it, it kept coming back
“Ivy? Are you here?” Theresa’s concerned voice broke through her thoughts.
“Yes, yes,” she replied quickly. “Sorry, I just zoned out.”
“You must be so tired. Sorry my love, Theresa said softly. “Go get some rest. I’ll call you tomorrow.”
“Thank you, T.”
“And congratulations, Ivy.” Hector’s voice came from the other side.
“Hector! Thank you so much, Ivy said with a smile, even though he couldn’t see that.
“You’re welcome. Have a lovely night,” Hector said.
“You too. Thanks, bye,” she said and ended the call.
Ivy dropped the phone and groaned. “Finally.”
She went to the bathroom, made herself a warm bath and went back to the room to strip off her clothes.
As she was about to reenter the bathroom, her phone rang again.
“Oh Lord!” Ivy groaned as she stomped to pick the call. Her annoyance melted when she saw it was Detective Spence.” Hello Detective,” she said softly.
“Good evening, Ms Stone,” Detective Spence said.
“Good evening. I was going to call you as well,” Ivy said, moving to the bed to sit. “Geo already agreed to come see you tomorrow.”
“Well, I am calling about that.”
Ivy’s stomach sank at detective Spence’s tone. “Is everything alright?”
“Geoffrey already found his family, but he didn’t tell me. It could have made my job easier.”
Ivy blinked. “I don’t understand you, detective.”
“Geoffrey knows his family, at least his dad. Patrick Scott, your father, is his father, Detective Spence said gently.
Ivy straightened up, laughing out of relief. “Sorry detective, you scared me. Yes, I’m sorry, we didn’t tell you my dad already adopted Geo.”
Detective Spence’s voice hardened. “Yes, ma’am, I know that. I mean the part where your father is actually Geo’s birth father.”
