Chapter 31
It was nearly dawn when they got home.
Isabella had fallen asleep before they even reached home.
Carrying Isabella upstairs, Matteo passed the master bedroom and noticed the door was open, but it was pitch black inside.
After putting Isabella to bed, he returned to the master bedroom, turned on the dim lights, and glanced at the bed–empty.
Freya wasn’t there. Just then, the butler brought up his luggage.
Matteo loosened his tie and asked, “Where is she?”
The butler quickly replied, “Madam went on a business trip.”
He hadn’t been present when Freya left with her luggage half a month ago.
Other servants had mentioned seeing her leave with luggage, presumably for a business trip.
Strangely, Freya rarely traveled for business before, and when she did, it was usually for just two or three days.
This time she’d been gone for half a month. Matteo merely grunted in acknowledgment, asking nothing more.
The next day.
Matteo ran into Freya at the company.
Unaware that Matteo and Isabella had returned, Freya froze momentarily at the unexpected encounter.
Seeing Freya, Matteo showed slight surprise but assumed she had just returned from her business trip, thinking nothing more of it.
His expression blank, he treated her like a stranger, coldly passing by and entering the company.
In the past, learning of his sudden return would have delighted her.
In such moments, even if she couldn’t embrace him, she would have watched him with excited, joy–filled eyes, smiling and wishing him good morning despite his coldness.
But now, Freya merely glanced at his handsome face before lowering her gaze, showing none of her previous excitement and joy.
Matteo hadn’t noticed these changes before he left.
Watching his tall, steady figure retreat, Freya wondered when he had returned, but since he was back, perhaps the divorce could proceed soon?

Having resolved to divorce, Freya didn’t dwell on thoughts of Matteo, immediately focusing on work upon returning to her desk.
Half an hour later, Jake called to instruct her: “Make two cups of coffee and bring them to the CEO’s office.”
Back when she was trying to win Matteo’s affection, learning of his love for coffee, she had put great effort into
mastering its preparation.
Her dedication had paid off. After tasting her coffee, whether at home or in the office, Matteo had specifically requested coffee made by her.
Back then, learning that Matteo truly loved her coffee had excited her for a long time. She thought it was the first
step toward success.
In reality, she had underestimated his dislike and wariness of her. True, he liked her coffee. But that was all he liked–just her coffee.
Toward her, his attitude remained cold and distant.
So when he wanted her coffee, he usually had Jake contact her, and after she made it, Jake or others would collect it.
He never gave her any chance to get close to him.
Only occasionally, when Jake and others were busy, did she have the opportunity to deliver the coffee to his office
herself.
This time, from Jake’s tone on the phone, she was to bring the coffee directly to Matteo.
After preparing the coffee, Freya placed it on a tray to deliver to him.
Matteo’s office door was open.
As she reached his office doorway, about to knock politely, she saw Raven sitting on Matteo’s lap, the two apparently kissing.
Freya froze, her face suddenly turning pale.
Seeing her, Raven hurriedly got off Matteo’s lap.
Matteo’s expression was extremely dark as he said coldly: “Who gave you permission to come here?!”
Freya gripped the tray tightly: “I came to bring you coff-”
“That’s enough, Secretary Freya.” Chad, Matteo’s other personal secretary, happened to arrive.
He knew about Freya and Matteo’s relationship. He said, “This is quite tasteless of you.”
Chad didn’t say it directly, but Freya suddenly understood his implication.
He thought she knew Raven was at the company and had used delivering coffee as an excuse to disrupt Matteo and

Raven’s time together…
From Matteo’s expression, he seemed to think the same.
In the past, she might indeed have done such a thing.
But now, when she was about to divorce him, how could she still do this? But they gave her no chance to explain.
Chad said coldly: “Please leave immediately!”
Freya’s eyes reddened, her hands trembling as she held the tray.
Coffee spilled over, scalding her fingers. She felt the pain but didn’t make a sound as she turned to leave.
But after just two steps, Matteo’s voice came from the office: “If there’s a next time, don’t bother coming to the
company anymore.”
