Chapter 55
When they got in the car, Isabella wasted no time. She immediately sat down in the back seat and sent a message to Raven.
Freya saw the message but didn’t speak.
After a while, Raven replied, saying she only had a cold and that it wasn’t a big deal.
However, Raven’s voice still sounded hoarse, and Isabella was still worried. She immediately texted her, telling her that she’d visit her after school.
As soon as she sent the message, Isabella felt a little guilty.

She hadn’t eaten Freya’s cooking in a long time and had originally planned to have dinner with Freya tonight.
But fortunately, she hadn’t mentioned it yet.
Thinking of this, she sneaked a glance at Freya, relieved to see that she hadn’t noticed her concern.
When they arrived at school, Isabella gave Freya a warm hug. “Mom, I’m going inside now.”
“Mm.”
Isabella didn’t notice Freya’s indifference and skipped happily into the school.
Shortly after, Freya received a message saying that Matteo had something urgent to attend to, and the meeting scheduled for 10 AM had been postponed to the afternoon.
The “urgent matter” was, in fact, him personally going to take care of Raven’s illness.
Freya didn’t react. She focused on her own work.
Around 2 PM, Matteo must have returned to the office, because Jake contacted everyone and said the meeting would take place at 3 PM. He also asked Freya to prepare a cup of coffee for Matteo.
During the meeting, when Matteo entered the conference room, Freya paused in the middle of yping.

Chapter 55
He was wearing a different outfit from earlier that morning.
He had gone to see Raven this morning. Raven was sick, and they might not have actually done anything, but it was also very possible that Matteo, out of concern for Raven, went to bed with her to comfort her and help her fall asleep…
With this thought, Freya suddenly felt a moment of daze.
Maybe she thought she was acting like a love–struck fool in front of him. When she snapped out of it, she realized Matteo was looking at her coldly.
Thinking about his tenderness and care toward Raven, and his impatience and indifference toward her, Freya clenched her fist and turned her gaze away.
Soon after the meeting, Jake came to find her and said that her handover work was almost done,
and she wouldn’t need to come to the office tomorrow.
Freya, “I understand.”
Even if Jake hadn’t mentioned it, she would have brought it up herself once she finished the work on hand. Since he had come in person, she didn’t need to make a trip.
Jake hadn’t expected such a straightforward response.
“You…”
Freya extended her hand, “Thank you for all your care these years.‘
Jake, still in shock, extended his hand to shake hers, “You’re too polite.”
After tidying up her things, Freya left.
Jake couldn’t believe she really just walked out like that.
‘What are you daydreaming about?” Chad slapped him on the shoulder.
‘Freya has left the company.”
Chad was stunned, “Really?”
She really left the company? How could he not believe it?

He scoffed, “She’s left now, but that doesn’t mean she won’t find a way to come back. Just wait, it
probably won’t be long before she returns with the help of Old Madam Wilson.”
Jake didn’t say anything.
Though it seemed unbelievable, based on Freya’s recent actions, he felt she was serious about it.
After leaving Wilson Group, Freya went straight home.
Perhaps her mind was still on Raven, because for the next two days, she didn’t receive any calls
from Isabella.
The next night. Jessica had a fever. Freya hurriedly closed the book, grabbed her car keys, and
rushed out.
It had rained all day, and by this time, the rain hadn’t let up.
Jessica lived in the old city area. By now, there were hardly any people or cars on the road.
She bought some medicine from a pharmacy near Jessica’s neighborhood. As she closed the
umbrella and got back into the car, the passenger door suddenly opened, and a tall figure sat down.
Freya’s heart jolted. She turned her head, and the black muzzle of a gun was pointed directly at her.
“Don’t move.”
The man was dressed in all black, wearing a mask and a low–brimmed hat, making it impossible to
see his face. His eyes, however, were cold and sharp as he stared at her.
Freya slowly raised her hands, not moving anymore.
The man took her bag and phone, “I won’t do anything to you. After you take me to my destination,
you can leave.”
Before Freya could react, he coldly ordered, “Drive.”
