“Sit there, I’ll just be back here behind you both.” Anthony points to the first little table with four large seats (two and two facing in towards one another) as we nod and follow the instructions quietly.
I sit at one side (going backwards) as Erin sits across from me facing the right way which I figured would maybe be less scary for her.
I had only flown once so far, but knew that I would have to hold it together for Erin’s sake on here since Seth wasn’t anywhere to be seen for comfort.
“You ok?” I whisper across to her, as she gulps and nods copying how I had put my seat belt on across my lap.
Once we were both settled, a short female appears by our table with bright smile and a tray of snacks.
“Anything for the flight dears? Water? Chocolate?“. She questions, as shuffle a little and nod.
“Water please.” I whisper, suddenly nervous about speaking to loud to annoy Kane from somewhere in the back.
“Just the same.” Erin adds, before the lady nods and hands us both the cold bottles.
As the flight attendant leaves, Erin and I exchange worried glances, both feeling the tension in the air. The engine hums to life, drowning out any conversation we might have attempted.
I try to focus on the view outside the window, the familiar landscape now shrinking beneath us, but my mind keeps drifting back to the events of last night.
Erin looks petrified as we take off, gripping to her seatbelt until the jet eventually evens itself out and the journey becomes smooth just like I had remembered it being the first time around.
She continues to fidget nervously with her seat belt, her eyes darting around the cabin. “Do you think they’ll ever forgive us?” she whispers, her voice barely audible over the plane’s roar.

“I don’t know,” I reply, feeling a lump form in my throat. “I hope so, but… it’s hard to say.”
The minutes stretch into hours as we soar through the sky, each passing moment only adding to the weight of the silence between us and the absence of Kane and Seth who had both chose to be hidden away somewhere in the back of this metal bird.
I can’t shake the feeling of disappointment and regret that hangs heavy in the air as I pay Anthony another quick glance only to find him engrossed in a game on his phone.
He’s probably bored of this dispute too, having to step up to act as the middle man in all of this!
Finally, after what feels like an eternity, the flight attendant announces that we’ll be landing soon. I exchange a glance. both of us silently dreading what awaits us on the ground.
We were back… and maybe back for good this time which was shattering.
Erin,
As the plane begins its descent, my stomach churns with a mix of nerves and anticipation. I can only hope that somehow, someway, we’ll be able to mend the rift that has formed between us and Kane and Seth.

But deep down, I know that the road ahead won’t be easy and that there was the possibility of them never speaking to either of us ever again.
I glance out of the window, as the pilot begins to drop us down towards the little square houses below as they grew with each

My heart longs to see Kanes, to fix this, but I fear now that we won’t even get the chance.
