Tessa’s POV
The minutes stretched into hours, each passing moment feeling like an eternity as Erin and I sat huddled together in the cold darkness of our cell. Despite the overwhelming sense of hopelessness that threatened to consume me, I refused to surrender to despair. I had to stay strong, for both of us.
As I looked around the cramped confines of our prison, my mind raced with thoughts of escape. But every idea I came up with seemed futile, every plan doomed to failure before it had even began
Who was I kidding? Despite the ideas being there, I was far too scared to even attempt something so fatal…
We were trapped, with no way out and no one to turn to for help either – we would have to learn to obey and learn to survive here – that was the only way.
As the minutes ticked by, the anticipation grew, each passing second bringing us closer to our moment of reckoning. We didn’t know what lay ahead, didn’t know if we would succeed or fail under these new rules. But one thing was certain: we would never give up, never stop fighting until we were at least somewhat happy again.
Just as the despair threatened to overwhelm us completely, the heavy metal door of our cell was heard being unlocked before it creaked open, and the guard’s harsh voice shattered our silence.
“GET UP AND COME!” He barked, his tone brooking no argument as Erin and I scrambled to our feet, our hearts pounding with fear.
·
We followed him out of the cell, our steps faltering as we were led down the dimly lit corridors once again – our footsteps quick to
keep up.
I just wish that they didn’t yell all the time… why were these males in permanent grumpy moods?!
As we emerged outside into the chilly winter air, the biting wind whipped at our skin, sending shivers down our spines.
I instantly moved to hug my arms tightly around myself, longing for the warmth of Kane’s embrace, but knowing that such comforts were now nothing more than a distant memory which would continue to crop up and torment me for the rest of my sad days.
canteen, their faces drawn and weary as they all similarly stood in their short- We joined the ranks of the other females from th sleeved shirts, their breath misting out in to the frigid cool air.
The gravel crunched beneath our feet as we were lined up evenly, the guard’s stern gaze sweeping over us as if assessing our worth regularly shoving and poking at different females to stand correctly.
It reminded me a little of our own judgment day back home, the tension thick in the air as we awaited our fate with this one being a lot more cold and terrifying that is.
This time, there was no hope of finding a genuine suitor. We were nothing more than commodities, to be used at the whim of those in power like mere puppets.
As the anticipation mounted, I felt a quick hand on my shoulder and turned to see Sasha standing beside us, her eyes darting nervously around the crowd. She gestured for Erin and me to keep our heads low and to copy her movements when the Alpha arrived, her voice barely a whisper above the wind.
I nodded in understanding, grateful for her guidance in this unfamiliar and hostile environment. With Sasha’s help, perhaps we stood a chance of surviving this ordeal, of finding a glimmer of hope amidst the darkness that threatened to engulf us.
If the guards were this intense, then I can only begin to imagine their leader….

As the moments ticked by, the sense of dread-only intensified, each passing second bringing us closer to our inevitable confrontation
With the Alpha. And as the buzzer sounded out; signaling the arrival of our captors, I braced myself for whatever lay ahead, steeling myself for the rials that awaited us in this harsh and unforgiving land.
The guards scurried aside, making their distance to us known, before the main doors of the building were once again opened.

I looked up to find an enormous male step out first dressed in the thickest fur coat imaginable reaching all the way down to his calves. The outfit in true Russian fashion was complete with a matching fur hat which only mocked us females with how cold we all were before him.
That’s got to be their Alpha…
Ruthless, middle aged, mean intimidating… he ticked all of the boxes!
