Tessa’s POV
The next morning quickly rolled around, as I groaned loudly this time when waking up from the pain in my nose, eyes, abdomen
and head.
I panicked slightly when realising that I couldn’t see very well before quickly reminding myself about the incident I had landed myself in the previous day with one of the guards.
Great!
Erin was already awake today, offering me a sad smile as she watched me stretch out my achy limbs.
“Your bruises look pretty bad today…” Erin admits, her tone wary of burting my feelings as I pout my lip out.
“They feel it too! I feel like I’ve been hit by a train!” I admit, my voice groggy as my throat felt rough like sandpaper.
We were both most definitely coming down with the flu from how cold it was around this place both inside and out!
If the Russian males here don’t kill us then no doubt the weather most likely will!
I use my elbows to push myself up to a sitting position as Erin’s hands quickly dart out to help me sit up fully as I thank her briefly and lean my back against the cold metal wall.
“What will today bring…” I sigh, reaching up to touch my nose as gently as possible only to be met with a horrific pain from the slightest of touch.
“I think it’s broke Tess…” Erin leans in closer and confirms, as I nod in agreement, fully believing her.
“Yeah it definitely is… but they won’t care. I guess I’ll just have to pray that it heals on its own…” I trail off quietly, feeling the sense of hope that I had once before had slowly start to fizzle out.
There was nothing good left for either of us… this place was the lowest of the low. It had to be!
With the deafening sound of the buzzer playing out, I almost scream back at it in frustration – however don’t knowing what the consequence of that would be.
“We can do this – together!” Erin helps me to stand, hearing the jingling of the guards keys approach from down the hall.
I follow Erin’s lead today, not feeling up to it at all with my swollen and sore face as we head out in to the same drab corridors. towards the same drab canteen for our combined breakfast and lunch.
Two meals per day of straight up garbage!
We line up, thanking the lady for the horrifying soggy oatmeal bowl that she had given us today – as we both grab the largest pieces of fruit available to make up for the taste.
–
I was thankful again for the water, wasting no time before drinking half of it instantly proving relief to my sandy throat.
“When do you think Sasha will come back? I feel bad for her…” I whisper to Erin, trying to go unnoticed by any of the othe knowing that Sasha was no longer here to guide us or keep us out of harm.
ales
She was a key part of our days here – showing us where to go and how to act and we would definitely be lost without her.

*I have no idea… hopefully its soon… but I just hope that she still taks to us when she does get back! Erin adds, chewing her lip nervously at the thought of Saha being too scared to be our friends how.
Like I said, we were pretty much cursed at this point I would say…
As we sat in silence finishing off our meagre breakfast, Erin and I exchanged concerned glances, both dreading the prospect of facing another day in this bleak and oppressive place without Sasha’s help.
With Sasha still nowhere to be seen at breakfast, we felt more insur than ever before dreading the sound of the alarm to say that
breakfast was over.
Where would we go after here? How would we know what to do now
“I hope she comes back soon you know? We won’t survive without her!” Erin panics, biting a chunk from her apple as I nod and
agree.
“I don’t know how much longer I can handle it here…” I mumble, eating my own piece of fruit as my soul felt like it was slowly dying from inside of me.
“We have to stay strong – I know that it’s hard Tess but we will figure this out together!” Erin attempts to make me feel a little better but unfortunately it doesn’t work.
