“Simon…” I tried to explain, but he was already on his feet. “Set an alarm and depart early tomorrow. Don’t let anyone spot you.”
“After all, this situation isn’t ideal for young women like yourself.”
“Simon.” But he continued on, not looking back.
I bit my lip forcefully, “Then why did you kiss me repeatedly tonight? And even go further…”
“Are you not going to own up to your actions?”

Simon halted abruptly. He turned to face me.
I sat on the bed, my eyes reddened but holding back
tears.
“I’m aware you despise me.”
“You always ignored me when I visited before.”
“But I appreciate you coming to my aid tonight and taking me in.”
“If you truly want nothing more to do with me, I’ll leave now.”
I rose from the bed. Without bothering to find my shoes, I walked barefoot towards the exit. As I passed Simon with my head lowered, tears were already silently streaming down my face.
“Lola.”
Simon grasped my arm.
“I said earlier, I don’t hate you…”
“Then will you take responsibility?”

I shook off his hand and looked up at him defiantly.
“You kissed me, embraced me.”
“And even went further…”
Simon suddenly cupped my face and kissed me passionately.
“Lola.”
He tasted my lips, his breathing growing heavier.
“If you insist on tempting me, then go all the way.”
I wrapped my arms around his slim waist and stood on tiptoes to meet his deep kiss, “Alright…”
During the National Day break, I visited the city where my biological parents resided. I stayed for three days.
When I left, those despicable individuals who indulged in various vices had been apprehended by law enforcement, awaiting harsh punishment.
Human trafficking, illegal gambling, forced
prostitution – thanks to those dreams, I had concrete evidence for each crime.

I didn’t need to wait for another chance or lifetime. In
this life, I could completely rid myself of these demons and ensure they faced the consequences they
deserved.
As I boarded the plane, I exhaled deeply. My greatest concern was finally resolved. At that moment, I felt incredibly liberated and at ease.
When the plane touched down in the capital, I first informed Simon of my safe arrival. He was unaware of the true purpose of my trip. He still believed I had gone on a short getaway with my friends for a few days.
“I’ll come see you tonight. Is everything prepared at your place?”
Simon had moved to an off–campus apartment. Being a senior, he rarely needed to return to school. Plus, living in the same dorm as Zack had become awkward.
“It’s all set. Should I come get you?”
“Sure.”
“Lola.”

“Today is Zack’s birthday. He’s hosting a party and asked me to attend… with my girlfriend.”
I had forgotten Zack’s birthday fell on National Day.
“Lola, do you want to accompany me?”
I hesitated to answer, feeling conflicted inside. It wasn’t that I was unwilling to make our relationship public. But the White family might soon disown me. At that point, my unsavory background would become common knowledge.
I knew Simon wouldn’t mind. But I couldn’t bear for him to face criticism. Just like in the dream. They accused him of being disloyal and unfilial.
Disappointing his family and relatives for an unworthy
woman.
But, as Simon had said that day. I was the one who provoked him first, so I should see it through. You can’t have it both ways, right?
“Simon.”

I took a deep breath, “Do you want me to go?”
“Yes,” He answered without hesitation.
“Then come pick me up. I’ll accompany you.”
I held my phone and caught sight of my reflection in the glass window. As I spoke those words, I was smiling, quite brightly at that.
“Lola, look outside.”
My heart seemed to skip a beat for a moment.
As I turned around, it felt like a slow–motion scene from a film. The smile on my face still lingered, the electronic announcement fading like a receding tide. Amidst the bustling crowd, I saw Simon. Only Simon.
I dropped my luggage and ran towards him without a care. Simon stood still, but opened his arms to me. I leapt into his embrace, and he caught me effortlessly. Despite the force, he didn’t even step back.
I wrapped my arms around his neck and beamed up at him, “Babe… your core strength is impressive.”

He gazed down at me and chuckled softly, “My waist is quite capable too. Care to find out?”
I poked his firm abs and whispered in his ear with a low laugh, “It’s a bit hasty, you know.”
“Lola…”
He seemed slightly exasperated, but being young and vigorous, his eyes were full of determination.
“Just you wait.”
“Don’t plead for mercy. Tears won’t help either.”
For tonight’s birthday celebration, Zack had invited numerous guests as usual. Olivia had dressed up specially for the occasion. The two of them sitting together naturally drew attention as an attractive pair.
Olivia was pleased by the compliments from several girls. She couldn’t help but glance at Zack, but he appeared somewhat distracted.
“Zack.”
“What’s the matter?”
