I grasped Simon’s arm and started to leave, saying, “Simon, let’s head home. I’m eager to see our new place.”
However, Simon remained still.
He fixed his gaze on Zack, his eyes steady yet intense and demanding.
“Zack, I don’t want to hear anyone badmouth my girlfriend ever again.”
By this point, Zack had lost his composure, blurting out, “Simon, who do you think you are?”
Simon responded with a cold smirk, “If you’re unsure about my identity, why don’t you ask your father?”
Zack suddenly went quiet.
His eyes slowly shifted from Simon’s face to mine.

His once attractive features now twisted into an
unpleasant expression.
“Lola.”
“I bet Simon doesn’t know that you’re not actually a White family member, does he?”
“It’s not fair to keep such a significant secret from him,
is it?”
Though I had long anticipated my background being revealed,
Zack’s abrupt disclosure still left me feeling ashamed and confused.
The hand Simon held suddenly became rigid and chilly.
My palm was damp with a thin layer of cold sweat.
Noticing my face pale, Zack chuckled, “Seems like you really were concealing it from him.”
“I figured as much. If Simon knew your true origins, he’d avoid you like the plague. Even if you threw

yourself at him, he wouldn’t go near you…
“Zack.”
Simon unexpectedly released my hand.
He calmly rolled up his sleeves, one at a time.
Then he removed his watch and handed it to me.
“I used to think you were just a capricious womanizer, not a good person, but not entirely vile either.”
“But now I see.”
Simon stepped forward, seized Zack’s collar, and forcefully pushed him against the wall.
“You’re not just a contemptible lowlife.”
