Zack was furious and attempted to retaliate, but Simon’s powerful punch landed squarely on his face.
“You’re also a coward and a disappointment.”
“And Zack, I’m different from you.”
“My affection isn’t for some daughter of the White or Zhao families.”
“I care for Lola simply because of who she is.”
“Whether she’s called Lola White or Lola Zhao, I adore her all the same. It’s as straightforward as that.”
“But Lola is no longer unblemished…”
Simon cut him off with another forceful blow to the
face.
Zack howled in agony, clutching his bloodied nose and mouth as he collapsed pitifully to the ground

Concerned that Simon might escalate and cause serious problems, I swiftly moved to restrain him, pleading, “Simon, please stop hitting him. Something terrible could happen…”
Simon’s expression remained stern, but he ceased his assault.
He eyed the blood–covered Zack, pulled out his phone, and called for someone to handle the situation.
As we approached the vehicle, I suddenly called out to
him.
“Simon, do you trust me?”
“What do you mean?”
I gazed up at Simon.
He wore a charcoal shirt, exuding an air of aloofness and sophistication, looking incredibly handsome.
His recent display of anger and violence – if my former self had witnessed it, I would have been terrified and fled immediately.

But now, I felt overwhelmingly moved.
For years, I had desperately sought any form of
support.
Yet it always ended badly.
The elders who once cherished me no longer viewed me as their beloved child.
Though there was no physical abuse or verbal berating, their haughty and distant emotional neglect was enough to plunge a young girl into despair.
The childhood friend I grew up with now looked down on me and distanced himself from me deep in his heart.
