Chapter 11
In the room, Emily was talking to James. Grandpa, I’m back. I’m sorry for making you worry.”
Alames looked at her with concern. “I know everything about you and Lawrence, I know what he’s done. You’ve been wronged all these years, yet you endured it for the greater good I should be the one apologizing to you?
Emily shook her head, not wanting to upset James further with those unpleasant matters, so she didn’t explain more.
Seeing Emily remain silent, James felt even more distressed. “Emily, don’t worry. In this family, my word still counts. The marriage agreement was between you and Lawrence. No one else can marry him. No one else is qualified to be my granddaughter–in–law.”
Emily knew exactly who he was referring to.
With the commotion in the hall, James must have heard about
Emily felt a pang in her heart. Besides William, only James truly cared for her.
But her divorce with Lawrence was already a done deal.
She could only appreciate James’s good intentions.
Just as she was about to explain, James suddenly said, “Emily, I plan to hand over the Parker family inheritance to you. Since Lawrence insists on divorcing you, we don’t need someone so ungrateful in the Parker family.”
“With you in charge of the Parker family, let’s see if Lawrence dares to bully you again. Divorce means he leaves with nothing. Let’s see if he still dares to divorce you.”
Only James knew Emily’s true identity.
William’s granddaughter, the apple of the Wilson family’s eye, smart and radiant like a sunflower even at a young age.
If it weren’t for James pleading with William, Lawrence wouldn’t have married such a wonderful wife.
Yet, Lawrence didn’t cherish her, letting Emily suffer in the Parker Villa.
If they divorced, James would feel the most guilty.
Emily was stunned.
She almost thought she heard wrong.
James wanted to hand over the entire Parker family inheritance to her!
Wasn’t he worried she might wreak havoc on the Parker Group to get back at Lawrence?
James trusted her so much that he was willing to give her his hard–earned business as compensation.
In contrast, when Lawrence heard she wanted a share of his assets, he immediately froze all her cards,
Both were from the Parker family, yet the difference was so stark.

But she knew this was between her and Lawrence.
Even if they divorced, the money should come from Lawrence, from his Independent company assets, not James’s lifelong
work.
“Lawrence should be the one to pay.
“Grandpa, about the inheritance…”
She was about to refuse when the door suddenly swung open.
A cold voice broke the conversation inside the room. “I disagree
Lawrence’s tall figure appeared, his eyes briefly scanning Emily face before he walked straight to James.
With a frosty tone, he said, “Grandpa, you’re confused. How can the Parker family business be handed over to an outsider, especially someone about to divorce me?”
He turned to Emily, each word like an invisible dagger to her heart.
“Emily, I underestimated you. Couldn’t get money from me, so now you’re trying to get it from Grandpa?”
No wonder she came back.
He thought it was for… but it turned out money was more important to her than anything.
Emily’s heart turned cold.
The explanation on her lips turned into a bitter smile. She finally understood the feeling of misplaced trust.
Three years as his wife, and in his eyes, she was just a gold–digging outsider.
James nearly exploded with anger upon hearing this.
He swung his cane at Lawrence.
Lawrence didn’t dodge, taking the hit head–on.
James almost strained his back, and Emily stepped forward to support him.
Lawrence reached out but withdrew his hand when he saw Emily.
James sat down, pointing at Lawrence and scolding, “You ungrateful brat, are you trying to anger me to death?”
“When you married Emily, did you forget what you promised? A man of your stature saying such things to his wife, I’m ashamed for you.”
Lawrence’s deep gaze fell on Emily, puzzled.
What had she done to make James willing to give her the family business?
“Why are you staring at Emily? Let me tell you, if you and Emily don’t give me a great–grandchild soon, I’ll have the

lawyer draft a contract to hand everything in the Parker family Emily:”
“Stayed out all night and now you dare bring people here to upset Emily? Do you think no one in this family can control you? Let’s see what you have eft to flaunt in front of Emily without the inheritance.”
“James’s scolding was relentless, and in front of Emily, Lawrence face turned extremely dark.
He stood there quietly, his cold gaze fixed on Emily, exuding a heavy, oppressive aura.
Seeing this, Emily felt much better.
Having someone to back her up gave her confidence.
She could imagine if she took over the Parker family, Lawrence and Sophia would have to look at her face every day.
They would have to report everything to her, without a hint of complaint or disrespect.
Just thinking about it made her feel vindicated.
This wasn’t the first time the topic had come up. James and William, feeling their age, wanted her and Lawrence to take over the family responsibilities and create a bright future together.
But they hadn’t expected that before taking over, the two would reach the point of divorce.
Seeing Emily lost in thought, James made the decision.
“That’s settled then. Emily, I’m not joking. Stay at home for the next few days. Once I handle this, I’ll announce your inheritance.”
“Grandpa…”
Emily didn’t expect James to be serious.
James raised an eyebrow, lowering his voice deliberately. “If you don’t agree, I’ll tell Lawrence about our agreement.”
Emily’s heart tightened, thinking this was bad.
She didn’t want Lawrence to know her true identity.
In these three years, if he had shown her a bit more care, he might have noticed something.
Now, with their divorce imminent, she didn’t want to stir up more trouble.
She just wanted to end things properly and return to her original life.
But looking at Lawrence’s changing expression and thinking of Olivia downstairs, who dreamed of being Lawrence’s wife…
Emily suddenly wanted to laugh. Her beautiful eyes lifted to meet Lawrence’s, filled with blatant provocation. “Since it’s Grandpa’s wish, I’ll accept it.”
