Helen pulled back a little and looked up at him. “You said you wanted to be with me every day. Was that all a lic?”
He softened. “Of course not. It’s just the company’s been busy lately, and I’ve had a ton of events. I didn’t want to come home late and mess up your sleep.
Helen pouted. “But when you’re not here, I can’t sleep at all, so you can’t mess up my sleep. Just promise me you’ll stay with me.”
Her voice was soft and sweet, wrapping around Linden’s heart like cotton.

But he didn’t plan to stay here with Helen all the time.
