After mentioning the divorce to Kaleb, I strangely calmed down.
It was like a big, heavy stone that had been weighing on my heart for a long time had finally been removed.
Perhaps, our marriage was a mistake from the very beginning.
I let out a deep sigh and dragged my weary body back home.
I poured myself a cup of hot water and sat on the sofa, wrapped in a blanket.
I didn’t turn on the light, instead allowing myself to blend into the darkness alone.
It seemed as if only this way could I forget that cruel fact–the fact that my husband, Kaleb, was holding another woman in his arms.
Maybe they had already slept together.
If not, why hadn’t he called me even once after hearing me propose a divorce?
Since Kaleb didn’t want to save this marriage, I would no longer insist.
I leaned back on the sofa, wrapping myself tightly in the blanket to get some warmth.
Just as I was about to doze off, the sound of unlocking came from the door.
Kaleb came back.
His face was extremely gloomy, and his sharp and dark eyes immediately locked onto me, sitting on the sofa.
I was startled by his loud slamming of the door, and as soon as I looked up, I saw his furious expression.
“You want a divorce?” Kaleb’s voice was hoarse and somewhat terrifying.
He strode up to me and firmly pressed me onto the sofa.
He grabbed my shoulder with force, and it seemed like he wanted to embed his fingers into my flesh.
Feeling pain, I pushed him.
“Calm down, Kaleb.”
Hearing my voice, Kaleb loosened his strength.
But he still forcibly pressed me under him. “Why do you wanna get divorced?” he asked with a deep voice.
The hot breath he exhaled scattered on my neck, and my tears almost welled up.
“You really don’t know why?” I asked back.
Two years of neglect from him, his tolerance towards the gossip about me, and his intimate bond with his so–called female “buddy“… Each one of them contributed to my breakdown to some extent.
Last night, I finally couldn’t bear the burden anymore and asked for a divorce.
But he asked why*.
Did Kaleb really not understand it? Or was he just pretending to be confused?
I took a deep breath and said with forced calmness, “If you want a divorce, I’m willing to leave with nothing.
Everything was originally yours anyway.”
