Stormy Marriage 18

Chapter 18

At this moment, there was only the sound of rain along with the faint overlapping of our two breaths in the car. I adjusted my posture, facing sideways toward Kaleb. I could only forget last night’s hysteria when I couldn’t see him. Gradually, I only felt surrounded by warmth and began to feel dozy

When I was shaken awake, I opened my eyes and found that we had already arrived at the destination. Kaleb remained calm and collected as he withdrew his hand and got out of the car. I didn’t come to my senses until 1 heard the sound of the car door closing. Then, I quickly got out of the car as well

The peaceful countryside village, where lights had been turned off already, and almost everyone had gone to sleep. Only Logan’s small villa was lit up all night, with many villagers standing guard at the entrance. This was my first time attending a funeral. And due to mental fatigue, I unconsciously walked closer to Kaleb

Hey, Kaleb, Katrina! You’re finally back!A plump woman ran over, with a worried expression on her face. She held my hand and began to drone on. It happened so suddenly. None of us expected Sir Barton to pass away like that. But I suppose his descendants brought some good fortune to him, so he didn’t experience any pain when he passed away. As long as you two are doing well as a couple, Sir Barton can rest in peace.”

Upon hearing this, I felt like wanting to cry. Logan had placed all his hopes on Kaleb and me. However, we might have to disappoint him

Skyler, where is the mourning hall? I wanna mourn there,Kaleb spoke lightly. The stray hair before his forehead covered his handsome brows and eyes, making it difficult for me to discern his expression

Oh, look at me. I almost forgot about this.Skyler slapped her forehead and took out two white cloth strips from her pocket. Then, she neatly tied them around Kaleb’s and my arms

Kaleb followed the direction pointed out by Skyler and strode over quickly, while I seemed a bit flustered and followed behind. I was the eldest daughterinlaw of the Barton family. Therefore, logically, I should have been the one to greet the guests along with the main family. But Kaleb expressed his opposition to the traditional constraints left by the older generation before getting married. He wasn’t willing to see me being bound by those traditional rules and regulations. Therefore, for the past two years, I had never cared about the Barton family’s

affairs

In the bustling mourning hall, I seemed out of place, more like an outsider
