Chapter 27
Kaleb’s fist trembled as he struggled to suppress the raging anger within him. Fury was burning in his black eyes as he hissed coldly, “Roy, I warn you, if you dare to harass her again, you won’t be my cousin anymore, and I will kill you.”
With that, Kaleb loosened his grip on Roy’s collar, stood up, and turned to walk out. But glaring at Kaleb’s back, Roy roared, asking, “You don’t love her! Then why don’t you let her go?”
Kaleb ignored Roy’s question and grasped the doorknob, ready to open the door.
“Kaleb, let her be with me.” Roy’s voice softened this time. With a pleading tone, he said, “I love her. Two years ago, when you first brought her home, I was deeply captivated by her.”
Kaleb’s movement in his hand suddenly paused, and his body stiffened. Facing Roy with his back, he stood still, exuding a gloomy aura.
“I have never asked anyone for anything in my life,” Roy said as he got up from the ground, his fingers touching his lips, wiping away the blood. “But this time, I beg you, Kaleb.”
Their cousinly relationship between them had always been good. But this time, Roy appeared so humble in front of Kaleb.
Kaleb calmed down and spoke in a deep voice, “I can give you anything but her.”
With that, he opened the door and went out.
Roy angrily shouted at his back, “Then try it! Try to hold onto her for the rest of your life! Besides me, there are many other men waiting to snatch her away. Look at you! You don’t cherish her at all! I doubt you can keep her for long.”
Kaleb strode towards the room, feeling the sound behind him particularly grating. The elders in the living room stood up nervously upon hearing the commotion, asking, “What’s wrong? What happened?” But Kaleb walked back into the room with a cold face, ignoring everyone, and slammed the door shut.
After discussion, Jeffrey and Tanya decided to stay here to accompany Danna for a couple of days, while the others returned to the city for work. In the afternoon, almost all the luxury cars in front of the villa had driven
away.
I packed up my clothes, said goodbye to Danna, and then walked out of the villa with my suitcase. Not far away, Skyler and a group of women were gathered under the tree, chatting about something while occasionally glancing in my direction.
