Danna rubbed her hands and sighed, “They are all rare diseases. Your previous patented medicine is also for treating rare diseases. With the small number of patients with rare diseases, can your income support the research of new drugs?”
This question made me feel a little embarrassed. I did indeed lack funds. Sure, your two rare disease drugs that actually work made it into national insurance. But overseas versions with worse results charge over 50,000 dollars per dose. Yours is better but barely makes money. What’s left after insurance? Only thousands? You’re no businessperson. You’re running a charity. Shut that lab down, go home, manage the house, and look after Kaleb properly. Be a housewife. That’s where you belong.”
Hearing the sound, Kaleb turned off his phone and slowly raised his head with a grave expression, his cold gaze landing on Felipe. The contemptuous words from Felipe made me extremely unhappy. Although I was introverted and quiet, I never backed down, especially not when it came to people who slandered my career.
I opened my mouth, ready to retort. But when the words were on the tip of my tongue, Danna suddenly became furious.
“You are a dishonest merchant, profiting from the hard–earned money of the poor, exploiting the benefits of your employees, ruthlessly reaping profits in the stock market, making no contribution to the country, only knowing how to make money without any restraint. What qualifications do you have to criticize our pharmaceutical researchers?”
As soon as these words were spoken, everyone was taken aback. Felipe was scolded by his mother, leaving him without any temper. He kept saying, “Mom, I just think her small company doesn’t make money, and it’s not necessary to spend so much time and effort on it. Do you have to scold me like this?”
