Chapter 49
After lunch, everyone sat in the living room, drinking tea and eating fruits while chatting. Annalise and Hana chatted about stars. Kayleigh, Tanya, and Camille chatted about fashion luxury goods and travel. Felipe, Jeffrey, and Diego were discussing the economy. Danna patiently taught Kaleb the ways of being a good husband, recalling how his grandfather used to dote on her and make their family happy and harmonious. I sat quietly eating oranges.
Suddenly, the phone in my pocket rang. I took out my mobile phone to look at the caller ID, and the word “Mom made me nervous. I sadly put down the orange, got up from the sofa, went to the balcony, and answered the phone outside.
Kaleb caught a glimpse of me leaving my seat and turned his head to look. Danna noticed that he was distracted, so she followed his gaze and couldn’t help but smile meaningfully, saying, “This child is really well–behaved and introverted, but she has a strong and resilient inner strength. She started her own company and developed her own patented medicine. She is also a well–known pharmaceutical scientist in the industry. She is truly outstanding. It is our family’s honor to have her. Don’t hurt her feelings; otherwise, there will be no turning back” Kaleb withdrew his gaze and remained silent. Suddenly, I hung up the phone and walked in. I said goodbye to Danna with a nervous expression. “Danna, there is something urgent at my home that requires me to go back for a while. I will come to see you next time.”
Danna hurriedly waved her hand. “Family matters are important. Just go. If you need my help, just ask.”
“Thank you, Danna,” I expressed my gratitude and politely nodded to the others. “I’m leaving first.” I hurriedly rushed out. Everyone looked at me.
Kaleb hesitated for a few seconds.“Grandma, I’m going back first.” Although he said few words, his grandmother understood and gently patted his arm with a smile. “Go. Drive safely.” Kaleb held his phone and followed behind

Camille gave Annalise a secretive glance, and Annalise also stood up and bid farewell. Danna was not happy.“Annalise, where are you going?”
Annalise pretended to be urgent.“I have to go back to work.”
Danna was puzzled.“Do you have a job?”
Camille smiled proudly and said, “My daughter is a beauty blogger with over a hundred thousand followers, teaching others about makeup and beauty.”
Danna half–heartedly responded, “Oh, so you can be considered a teacher? In a formal school?” They fell silent.

Annalise had already caught up with Kaleb’s footsteps. “Kaleb, give me a ride.”
Kaleb walked towards the car, took out the key, and unlocked it.“You can take a taxi.”
