“Mom,” I greeted.
Belinda gritted her teeth and whispered, “It’s all because of you. Deal with it. If your brother and Laci get divorced, I won’t spare you.”
Terry closed the door and entered, annoyed, saying, “Mom, what does this have to do with my younger sister?”
As soon as he finished speaking, the door opened, and Lací Saunders angrily threw a ceramic vase. With a loud bang, the porcelain pieces shattered into four or five parts, and then Laci forcefully slammed the door again. The three of us outside were all startled.
Even though he had always been a pushover, when he saw the gift he had prepared for his sister being smashed, Terry couldn’t hold back his anger anymore. He turned red–eyed and shouted angrily towards the room, “Laci, I’ll divorce you! I mean it!”
Belinda grabbed his arm and pounded on it anxiously. “You foolish man! How expensive it is to marry a woman! Even for your son, you can’t divorce her!”
Terry’s eyes were filled with tears as he angrily said, “Mom, she nags and complains every day, saying I am incapable and poor. Complaining about my small apartment and my old car. Even when I spent 80 dollars to personally make a ceramic vase as a belated birthday gift for my sister, she still argued with me. I’ve had enough of this kind of life.”
I picked up the broken ceramics from the ground and looked at the gift my brother had carefully prepared for me, feeling heartbroken. It wasn’t because the gift broke. But it was because my brother was heartbroken.
I walked up to Terry and took his rough big hand, softly saying, “Terry, let’s not bear it anymore!”
Terry nodded with tears in his eyes. They were fraternal twins, and Terry was tormented by the hardships of life as if he had aged ten years.
Belinda was nervous and pointed at me, saying, “Katrina, you better not mess around. If your brother gets divorced, I will make you get him a new wife.”
My gaze was determined. “Mom, I will take responsibility for this.”
Belinda finally closed her mouth. I walked up to the door and knocked. “Laci, we are all adults. Calmly discuss the matter of your divorce with my brother. If you don’t want to talk, then let’s go to court and proceed directly.”
