The assistant, whose name was Reilly Hampton, replied, “Okay, Mr. Barton.”
Kaleb then said to me, “Come to my office to talk.”
I nodded gently. Kaleb’s legs were so long. As he strode steadily forward, I, who could only take small steps, barely kept up. I looked at his broad and majestic figure from behind. His black suit fitted him perfectly, helping him exude an air of elegance and composure.
At the corner, Kaleb stopped short and turned his head to look at the corner. I didn’t stop in time and bumped into him directly. I was shocked and took a step back. Touching my forehead, I whispered, “I’m sorry.”
Kaleb turned around and glanced at me, seeing that I was fine. Then, he pointed at the door ahead and said, “Wait for me in the office.”
“Okay.” I didn’t think much and walked past him.
Kaleb saw me entering the office, and then he turned left into the stairwell, where he pulled Annalise out from inside. Annalise touched her arm, grimacing in pain.“Kaleb, let go… It hurts…”
Kaleb’s expression was indifferent. He asked coldly, “Why did you come to my company again? What are you sneaking around here for?”
Annalise quickly explained, “I was not here for you. Hana is an intern at your company. I came to her. It was more than an hour before she got off work, so I wandered around and used live streaming to pass the time.”
Kaleb asked, “Hana is on the third floor. Why are you on the twentieth floor?”
Annalise felt very aggrieved. “Katrina couldn’t find you, and it was me who took her here.”
“Go down.” Kaleb released her arm and turned to walk toward the office.
Annalise rubbed her sore arm, which had been held tightly by Kaleb. She was so angry that she gritted her teeth and pouted in grievance. She walked up to the elevator and pressed the button. In a short while, the elevator door opened and the assistant came out with two contracts. Annalise immediately grabbed him and said, “Reilly, hold
on.”
Reilly was puzzled. “Ms. Perez, is there anything wrong?”
