“Maybe not.” Roy’s voice came down from upstairs, teasingly.“Grandma, who knows, maybe I can make your wish
come true.”
Roy, dressed in a cool black outfit, hurriedly walked downstairs and sat beside me. He propped his chin on his hand, his eyes burning with passion, and a bright smile on his face.“Good morning, Katrina!”
I shifted my position and said, “Good morning, uncle.”
Danna’s face darkened, and she patted the seat next to her. “Roy, come sit here.”
Roy glanced at Kaleb sitting at the dining table, then looked at his grandmother, smirking. “I wouldn’t eat her; what are you afraid of?”
Grandmother was displeased. “You said that without considering the consequences.”
Roy ignored his grandmother; his deep eyes shining like torches, his voice unusually gentle. “Katrina, it’s rare to have a long May Day holiday. We can put work aside, and I’ll take you to Fairbanks, Alaska to see the Northern Lights.”
I was taken aback, as the most tender part of my heart was touched, leaving me stunned and frozen in shock. How did Uncle know the place I wanted to go the most?
