Chapter 92
Meru
Roy squinted his eyes and smirked mischievously, his tone full of mockery. “So what if he found out? Who would have thought that Kaleb, the gentle and righteous gentleman, would be even more twisted than me?”
The words had just fallen. Kaleb threw a punch. Roy was hit again, staggering back a few steps, blood spilling from the corner of his mouth. He licked the bloodstain at the corner of his mouth and stared at Kaleb with a sneering look. He playfully said, “Bro, I don’t care at all about the things you care about.”
Kaleb’s tightly clenched fist tightened even more, causing his knuckles to turn white and the veins on the back of his hand to bulge, uncontrollably trembling.
Roy sneered, “I could wait, wait for the day when Katrina doesn’t want you.”
Kaleb’s eyes turned bloodshot, and he stared fiercely at Roy. Roy timidly stepped back, a provocative smirk playing at the corners of his mouth. Finally, he made a respectful gesture towards Kaleb before turning and walking towards his motorcycle. He picked up his helmet and put it on, sat on the bike, deliberately revved the engine, making a loud rumbling noise. He looked back at Kaleb and then drove away.
I returned to the Drug Development Institute, and the entire company was empty, with me being the only one conducting experiments. Tired, I lay on the table to rest. I was hungry, so I took out a pack of small bread from the drawer to fill my stomach. I had something on my mind, thinking about someone, unable to fully concentrate on my work. The phone didn’t ring all day. I had an urge to send a message to Kaleb. No matter how long I had been neglected, I was always hoping that Kaleb would turn around and look at me. Today was our two–year wedding anniversary, and the anticipation reached its peak. Could Kaleb not take the initiative? Could *I* be a little more proactive? I could ask him to come home early and have dinner together; that would be good.
