Her unremitting efforts will never let her down. Giana saw my tears of excitement and hugged me, stroking my head. “You have had such a difficult time these years, studying day and night, not taking many days off in a whole year. It’s really heartbreaking, but luckily hard work will eventually pay off.”
After I slowly digested my excited emotions and calmed down, I left Giana’s embrace and smiled brightly.“Giana, if the new medicine can successfully be launched on the market, my career will take a big step forward. I will have the money to help my brother overcome his difficulties and also provide a better life for my parents. All the challenges in front of me will be easily solved.”
Giana held my face and wiped the tears from my cheeks. “You are a shining piece of gold, and I truly admire you. I am also honored to be your best friend and most reliable partner. Let those blind people who don’t recognize your worth go away.”
I smiled knowingly, hearing the undertone in Giana’s words. It was clear that the “blind woman” was definitely scolding Kaleb.
On the way home, I walked with a light and relaxed pace. I bought two–steamed buns by the roadside and ate them while walking. As soon as I got home, I immediately freshened up, wasting no time. After taking a shower, I locked myself in my room and studied diligently, trying to make every second count. With my current achievements and abilities, obtaining a doctoral degree was not difficult for me. But I also didn’t want to just go through the motions.
I was so focused that I couldn’t even hear any sound from the outside. Time passed by minute by minute; feeling exhausted, I lifted my head from the book and glanced at my phone, only to realize that it was already midnight. I stood up and stretched my body, taking an empty cup as I walked out of the room. The bright moonlight shone into the living room, with high visibility. I didn’t turn on the lights and walked straight to the kitchen, opening the refrigerator. I paused for a moment while holding the milk, my gaze falling onto the transparent box filled with several types of fruits that I loved to eat.
