She squeezes out a smile and sat in front of me, saying, “For the convenience of my work, can you tell me the password for the front door of your house?”
My fingertips hesitated slightly as I peeled the eggshell.
Annalise explained, “From today onwards, I’m Kaleb’s personal secretary. Whether it was in daily life or at work, I would attend to every detail, meticulously and systematically, taking care of both Kaleb’s personal life and professional responsibilities.”
I put down the eggs, took a sip of water, cleared my throat, and whispered, “Ms. Perez, I don’t care about your work matters, but please do not disturb my life.”
“I only took care of Kaleb’s life and would never disturb you.”
I didn’t hide my feelings, “You appearing in front of me has already affected my
mood.”
Annalise smiled wryly and said, “Are you really jealous of me? I have known Kaleb for over twenty years, if there was anything between us, it would have happened a long time ago. It’s none of your business now.”
“This is not an excuse for you to interfere in our private lives.”
Annalise didn’t agree, “Kaleb agreed too, if you don’t want to see me, then I can come over next time when you’re
at work.”
Did Kaleb agree? My fist clenched slightly, my nails digging into my palm. I silently endured the pain, my heart
aching.
Annalise continued, “I might frequently come to your house in the future to deliver some documents or reports to Kaleb, so it’s inevitable that we will run into each other. I hope you won’t be so narrow–minded.”
A sour feeling weighed on my heart, but I calmly said, “Why don’t you just move in?”
