Chapter 16- dreams and realities -1
Ma looked at me, looking at me with fear laced in her eyes. She stood up, walking out the door, she locked it. “this man you talk about, can you explain him?” she looked at me.
“I couldn’t see his face.” I said, looking away from her. “but at the same time, his presence seemed very familiar. “His smile” I found myself smiling a bit.
“I don’t want to overthink it, but I want you to be careful, okay?” she looked serious.
More serious than the time she found out I was in love with the Alpha’s son.
“when am I not careful mum” I snorted, rolling my eyes.
“It’s fine, how is your mark? Does it still hurt?” I was shocked. I didn’t expect her to know
“You heard about that too huh?” I had tried to hide it away from her, never telling her anything about my mark, or the complications with Kaden, but she never asked. I think it
was more for my sake.
She hugged me, not saying anything else. “Are you staying for dinner?”

no ma. I’m actually kind of tired. Would you mind?”
“It’s fine. I made casserole and actually, I’m not that hungry.” She gave me a fake smile. I
could tell that it still bothered her that some creepy guy was scent marking me.
“Fine, well I’ll get to mine, good night ma” I moved in for a big hug.
“good night my precious”
I walked to my apartment. Not even making it to my room as I crashed headfirst on the couch and passed out. For some reason, I was way more tired than I usually was.

I was excited to start the day. Second trial if you will.
Eric and I were going to hang out again today. I blushed at that

I took the extra care to even take Into consideration the clothes I would put on which was a big thing since I usually just threw on the first thing I found in my wardrobe.
I picked up a grey skirt, and a cropped top. I needed to look my best for when he saw me this morning. I spent hours trying to style my hair into something more flattering, but no
it just didn’t seem to work out.
“Mum!!!!!” I yelled from the bathroom.
“What! Samantha!” I rolled her eyes at the tone. 18 years and she still got annoyed anytime I yelled her name. You’d think she would have a whole 17 years for practice.
“Could you please do my hair for me?” She opened the bathroom door, giving me the “Are you even serious” look. But I couldn’t be bothered. “Are you going to help me or not,” I whined, giving her my best puppy dog eyes.
“Your two baby siblings are waiting for breakfast and by the way, they are monsters when they are hungry, your eleven year old brother is running a fever and then your dad is out of town so I have no help, and you want me to do your hair!!!” she said breathing heavily as she looked at me with a look of disbelief.
“Fine, sorry I asked,” I said facing back the mirror trying to imagine how my hair would look if I packed it a certain way.
“no, you’re helping out! And that’s final”
I looked at her with horror “But mum! I’m…”
“no buts Sam. You’re helping out and that’s final” I blew out an exasperated breath, going to make breakfast. Not without mumbling how the universe was against me, which she ignored.
I could not have done my work any faster. I dressed, decided to let my hair down.
I checked the time, running down the stairs almost tripping down the stairs again.
I stepped on the field, seeing the warriors just rounding up their practice thingy.
“Eric!” I smiled, going in to give him a bare hug, him being sweaty and all. I inhaled, smiling. The smile soon vanished as I noticed that he wasn’t responding to my hug, if

anything he stood there, frozen under my touch.
I pulled back a bit from him. “Are … are you okay?” I looked into his eyes.
I tried as much as possible to not let myself think so much on how he looked, or else I was going to be aroused and I was not ready to let a handful of unmated wolves smell me.
