Jason narrowed his eyes, seeming to assess the truth of

“Not joking. What, do you think I’m a masochist who doesn’t enjoy life?”
I asked rhetorically with a smile.
Jason thought for a moment and agreed.“Not working is good. You can just stay home, and we can try for a puppy. It will be the next Head Warrior of our Pack.”
I smiled, neither confirming nor denying.
Heh, you think so well of yourself. You want me to be your baby–making machine while continue your nightly rendezvous with Sweetheart? Go ahead and dream on.

“Then I’ll start the resignation process these days. I want to travel to Europe; I’ve made plans with Summer. It’s been a long time since I’ve traveled.”
“Isn’t her law firm busy? Does she have time to travel with you?”
“She’s busy, but she specifically made time for me,” I said cheerfully.
Jason was momentarily speechless, as if realizing something.
After a while, he said again, “It’s good to get away. I’ll arrange your itinerary in advance, you don’t need to worry about anything, just relax and enjoy yourself.”
I still smiled, neither agreeing nor disagreeing. My wolf answered him silently in head, WE’LL SAY GOODBYE TO YOU THEN.”

The wound on my forehead was too noticeable, and I didn’t want to appear in the company in such a tragic state at this crucial moment of resignation, so I took a few more days off.
With the extra time, I slowly and steadily packed my clothes, shoes, bags, and other miscellaneous items, moving them to the new house little by little. A little today, a little tomorrow; the cabinets were obviously empty, anyone paying a little attention could notice.
But Jason remained completely oblivious.
Even when I burned our bonding ceremony photos in front of him in the yard, he was only focused on his phone, sometimes chuckling, sometimes happily replying to messages.
If only he had spared a second to look at his wife outside the bay window…
I stood in the setting sun’s glow, watching him with a smile, and stared at him quietly for a long
time.
Until the lighter burned my fingertip, I reluctantly let go.
The flames consumed the gasoline, illuminating the two of us in the metal bucket. I smiled so sweetly and happily; his eyes were full of me… Then slowly, our faces were distorted, burned, and finally turned into a pile of black ashes….

A sudden sense of suffocation overwhelmed my heart. I looked at the ashes, my eyes misty.
“What are you burning?”
Jason finally noticed the commotion outside and came out to see.
I tilted my head, suppressing my uncontrolled emotions. “Nothing, just some…” I turned to him, a soft smile in my slightly red eyes, “…useless trash.”
