Moments later, Kaius entered the room, his gaze sweeping over me I lay on the bed.
“How is she?”
“Fine. All patched up,” Frost replied, rising from his chair. His eyes met mine briefly before he left the room.”
The room felt empty after he left. I clutched the sheets to my chest, feeling exposed. Kaius moved with that preternatural grace across the room, coming to sit on the edge of the bed where Frost had been moments before.
“You let Frost have sex with me?” I blurted out, needing to address the elephant in the room.
Kaius’s expression didn’t change. “Yes, does it bother you?”
I wasn’t sure how to answer that. My mind still struggled to make sense of what had happened between the three of us, how I’d responded to both of them.
“You seem close to him, and he would never hurt you,” Kaius continued when I didn’t answer.
That much was true. Despite everything, I’d never felt truly afraid of Frost. Wary, yes. Uncertain of his intentions, definitely. But not afraid the way I sometimes was with Kaius.
Is just… some Alpha wolves get possessive, and others…” I trailed off, not sure how to phrase what I was trying to ask.
“Derive joy and satisfaction by watching their mate being fucked and punished by other men?” Kaius finished for me, his crude words making me flinch despite our intimacy.
“Will you do that?” I asked, thinking of the execution hall, the public marking that should have happened before the pack.
His expression hardened. “I wouldn’t let my pack watch me fucking you; that’s why I hadn’t gone through with the joining ritual before them as it was required.”
“But Frost is different?” I pressed, needing to understand where the boundaries lay.
“Yes, he is, and you know what?” Kaius moved closer, his scent enveloping me as he sat on the edge of the bed. “I would let him fuck you again and again.”
Heat rushed to my face at his blunt statement. I should have been angry about being treated like something they shared. Instead, I felt an excitement I tried to ignore.
“You don’t?”
Kaius’s yes narrowed. His hand moved to my thigh, fingers pressing into my skin. “You’re challenging me. Why?” He leaned closer, his breath warm against my cheek. “Are you trying to provoke me, Elowen?”
I looked away, unable to meet his penetrating gaze. “Nothing.”
His hand gripped my chin, turning my face back to his. “You know what happens when you lie to me, Elowen.” His eyes searched mine, seeing through my pretense. The intensity of his gaze made it impossible to maintain the lie.
“I’m sore, I admitted reluctantly.
His grip softened, thumb tracing my lower lip. “I’ll be gentle.”

Before I could respond, his mouth claimed mine in a kiss that started soft but quickly deepened. My body responded automatically, arching toward him despite my protestations of soreness. The way we fit together made no logical sense given everything else between us, but I couldn’t deny the chemistry that sparked whenever he touched me.
“Do I own you now?” he murmured against my lips, his hand sliding beneath the thin fabric of my nightgown.
I tried to summon defiance. “You don’t own me.”
His fingers paused their exploration, his eyes meeting mine with predatory focus. “Say it.”
Despite myself, the words tumbled out: “You own me, Alpha Kaius.”
“That’s it,” he breathed, his hand resuming its path up my thigh. The pride in his voice shouldn’t have affected me the way it did, sending a shiver of pleasure through me.
His touch was indeed gentle, mindful of my soreness yet still masterful in finding ways to build pleasure that didn’t add to my discomfort.
Afterward, as I lay beside him catching my breath, a question occurred to me.
“How did I get into these clothes?” I asked, gesturing to the nightgown I’d been wearing when I woke.
“Let’s say it was a combined effort,” Kaius replied, a hint of amusement in his voice.
“You are sick, you know that?” But there was no real heat in my words.
“Yes and I’ll ruin you Elowen,” he said, tracing lazy patterns on my bare skin, “but I won’t do it alone. As much as you are mine, I like the thought of you being claimed by him.
The casual admission should have alarmed me, but after everything that had happened, it merely felt like confirmation of what I’d already figured out.
For whatever reason, Kaius and Frost shared a connection that extended to me now. I was becoming entangled in their world.
“There’s a feast tomorrow,” Kaius said, changing the subject abruptly. We have to be there; it would be the last feast my parents would be joining us for, but you will wear exactly what I tell you to.
I nodded, unable to argue with him, knowing if I did, he would have to physically prove his point.
