I couldn’t help but smirk. “Taking care of a sick person in bed? And you still have the audacity to ask me what I want?”
Eanes‘ expression turned awkward for a brief second. Still, be held his ground. “What nonsense are you talking about?”
I chuckled and pulled out my phone, showing him the picture Yasmine had sent me.
“Here. Your dear friend sent me this. I’m not falsely accusing you, am I?”
Eanes glanced at the screen, and his face instantly darkened, “I’m sorry. About this, I-”
I cut him off before he could finish, “Are you apologizing because you wronged me or because I had to see something like this?”
Eanes‘ face stiffened. His confidence wavered.
Not wanting to play this game any longer, I handed him the divorce agreement. “Sign it.”
He froze for a moment. Then, as if finally reaching his breaking point, he flung the papers onto the floor. “You’re serious? I’m warning you! There is a limit to my patience. You should know where to draw the line.” “Fine. You don’t have to sign. I’ll just sue you for divorce,” I answered with a chuckle.
“Are you insane? If you take me to court, people will know we’re married! Are you trying to ruin me? Are you seriously treating me this way despite our years of marriage?”
Eanes was practically hysterical now, his gaze filled with disbelief. He kept saying all sorts of things.
However, I only stood there, silently watching him.
In the end, he was the one who gave in first. “I’ll give you time to cool off,” he mentioned. “But I’m not agreeing to this.”
Of course, he wouldn’t. Not because he couldn’t bear to lose me, but because his company was on the rise. A scandal and my family withdrawing their investment would be disastrous for him.
I ignored him. I even blocked him before I left.
I wasn’t sure if Eanes was avoiding the issue, but he never came looking for me again.
I was more than happy with the peace.
One day, Shawn asked me to grab dinner together. After I picked him up, we went to a well–reviewed restaurant.
Ever since I fully immersed myself in work, Shawn and I had grown much closer. We never ran out of things to talk about.
As soon as we sat down, Shawn suddenly asked, “Do you still love Eanes?”
I hadn’t expected him to bring up my love life so directly. At first, I thought he was just being nosy, but the anticipation in his gaze was impossible to ignore.
A normal person would have asked if I was really getting divorced, not if I still loved Eanes.
That told me everything I needed to know.

I didn’t bother playing dumb. I paused for a moment before replying, “I don’t know if I still love him. But it only takes an instant to be disappointed in someone. I know for sure that I can’t be with him anymore.”
I saw the corners of Shawn’s mouth lift slightly as he said, smiling, “I knew you were someone who knows when to hold on and let go. I hope you get what you want.”
Before I could respond, there was a loud splash. A glass of red wine was poured straight over Shawn’s head.
It wasn’t until I saw Eanes standing there, seething with rage, that I realized what had happened. I shouted, “Are you out of your mind?”
Then, I grabbed some napkins to help Shawn wipe it off.
But before I could, Eanes grabbed my wrist in a vice grip and yelled like a madman, “Stop it! I won’t let you help him wipe it off! Stop! Do you hear me?”
Anger flared in me. As I yanked my hand away with force, Eanes was thrown off balance, crashing onto the floor. He stared up at me in shock. “You… How dare you do this to me?”
