Chapter 10
“I only made a mistake because I was confused. I’m a victim, too! Yasmine tricked me. I had no idea she was that kind of person. It was her idea to push me into this mess!
“Can you… Can you help me? You can say something online to ease the backlash. That will at least make things a little less miserable for me.”
Even as I saw the look of desperation on his face, I had no intention of dragging this out any longer. Keeping my tone calm, I said, “Fine–but on one condition.”
Eanes stiffened. “What is it?”
I smiled, pulling out the divorce papers I had been carrying with me all along.
“Sign this.”
This was the only thing I wanted now. Maybe, at some point, I still had a sliver of affection for Eanes–but after he slandered me, any remnants of it were long gone.
The color drained from his face. He was silent for a long time before letting out a cold laugh. “Playing hard to get doesn’t suit you.” Then, as if suddenly thinking of something, he agreed, “Fine. I’ll sign it. However, you have to sign it in front of me as well.”
He was betting on me to not go through with it. He thought I was just bluffing and wouldn’t actually sign the
papers.
And so, the moment he signed his name, I immediately put my signature down without a second’s hesitation.
In an instant, his calm facade shattered. He lunged at me, trying to snatch and tear up the papers.
Of course, he failed.
The divorce became official. We split our assets, and from that moment on, Eanes and I were completely done.
As for the online chaos, I had my team clean it up. The storm gradually died down.
Then, on the day my company was holding a team–building event, I was about to head out when Eanes showed up at my doorstep, blocking my way.
He looked completely drained, as if all the energy had been sucked out of him. He was oozing with exhaustion.
“I was wrong… Can you forgive me? I always thought I was rational and that I could tell the difference between love and everything else. I only realize now how ridiculously wrong I was.
“It’s because of Yasmine, isn’t it? I swear, I’ve completely cut ties with her. I won’t have anything to do with her ever again. Come home with me, please.”
For the first time, someone as proud as Eanes was speaking to me in such a humble, pleading tone.
But instead of feeling any sense of satisfaction, I just felt annoyed.
“Eanes, I don’t love you anymore. Also, I’m not going to make the same mistake twice.”
“You used to be deeply in love with me! There’s no way you just stopped loving me overnight. The only reason you wanted a divorce was because you couldn’t stand Yasmine. If you still mind her, you still love!” Eanes was eager to justify himself.
I let out a soft laugh, shaking my head. “No. I don’t love you anymore.”
His lips tightened into a thin line at those words. He looked utterly lost as he mumbled to himself, “But I love you.

Then, he suddenly leaned in, trying to kiss me.
But before he could get any closer, someone yanked him back.
It was Shawn.
Shawn wrapped an arm around mine and warned, “Sir, please have some self–respect. Don’t touch my girlfriend.” “Bullshit!” Eanes snapped, his voice laced with anger and disbelief. “She loves me!”
Clearly, he didn’t believe a word Shawn had said.
In response, Shawn leaned down and kissed my cheek in front of Eanes. When he looked up and locked eyes with me, I suddenly felt lightheaded, my heart racing out of control.
It took me a moment to fully process what had happened. Then, I pulled his hand off my arm, only to interlace our fingers together instead.
I had never seen Eanes like this before. Like a man who had just lost everything, he staggered back and fell to the ground, muttering incoherently as Shawn and I walked away without looking back.
As soon as we got into the car, Shawn caught me off guard when he kissed me on the lips instead of my cheek. For a second, we just stared at each other. And then, I kissed him back.
Eanes came looking for me a few more times, begging me to take him back each time. To escape his harassment, I moved to a different city.
Meanwhile, Shawn and I officially got together. Our relationship remained stable and strong.
The next time I heard about Eanes was six months later. His company had gone bankrupt, and his parents had forced him to marry a wealthy businesswoman in her 50s.
As for what happened after that?
I didn’t know–and honestly, I didn’t care.
