Chapter 4
“Even if it were true, our apartment’s only on the fifth floor. She couldn’t possibly die from a fall like that, could she?”
As Benson was speaking, a fragile female voice interrupted from his end.
“Benson, is something wrong with Olivia? Maybe you should go to her. I’ll be fine here.”
“Don’t worry, I won’t jump again… It’s just… living is so exhausting!”
The voice was unmistakably Celine’s.
Benson didn’t even bother to mute the call as he rushed to comfort her: “Olivia’s just acting. What could possibly happen to her?”
“Be good, Celine. Don’t overthink this. I’m not going anywhere. I’ll stay right here with you, okay?”
His tone was as gentle as if he were soothing a child.
Hearing it made me sick to my stomach.
He always believed whatever Celine said without question.
While everything I did was dismissed as an act.
With such an obvious favoritism towards Celine, yet he had the nerve to claim their relationship was ‘innocent‘?
Jason seemed unable to process what he was hearing.
“Benson, we’re talking about your wife and child here. You’re off dealing with your ex’s suicide threat and don’t even care if your own family lives or dies?”
“Have you lost your mind?“”

and date her yourself.”
Hearing this, Jason looked like he wanted to reach through the phone and punch Benson.
“Benson, you really are a jerk! I never should have trusted you!”
Benson just laughed coldly.
“So what? She’s such a coward who fears death so much. Do you really think she could die for real?”
“I just want her to learn a lesson so she’ll stop causing scenes all the time!”
“Gotta go. Don’t bother me again. I need to get back to Celine.”
Jason tried to say more, but Benson had already hung up. He nearly smashed his phone in frustration.
Everyone in the ambulance had heard Benson’s callous words and looked at me with sympathy.
I took a deep breath.
Even though I had already recognized how heartless Benson could be, hearing his words still sent a pang through my heart.
After all, those were five real years of my life.
I had truly loved him and had prepared to start a family with him.
I gently touched my abdomen.
Perhaps due to the mother–child connection, the intense pain from earlier seemed to ha

But the expressions of the medical staff grew increasingly grave.
“Patient’s blood pressure is dropping. Prepare for emergency treatment!”
