When I opened my eyes again, it felt like a lifetime had passed.
I stared at the stark white ceiling for a long time before remembering everything that had happened.
My hand instinctively moved to my stomach, but it was completely flat.
The belly I had sometimes found heavy and cumbersome was now gone.
My face felt itchy. When I raised my hand to touch it, I found it wet with tears.
Benson’s mother returned from outside the hospital room and, seeing me awake, quickly called for a
nurse.
She gently took my hand, her voice filled with regret.
“Olivia, you’re both still young. You can have another baby in the future.”
I didn’t respond, simply pulling my hand away, making my feelings clear.
Her expression froze momentarily.
I had always gotten along well with her, but she was still Benson’s mother.
Seeing my distant attitude, she sighed.
“Olivia know you’ve been wronged. I understand.”
“You and Benson have been together for over five years. I’ve witnessed it all. With the wedding date already set, it hasn’t been easy to get this far.”
“I don’t have a daughter of my own, and I’ve always thought of you as my daughter. What happened wasn’t what any of us wanted.”
“Benson went too far this time. When he comes, I’ll make sure he apologizes properly. Okay?”
I continued staring at the ceiling without speaking.
After a long while, I finally said, “Mrs. Blake, you always say you think of me as a daughter. If you really had a daughter and her fiancé treated her this way, would you forgive him?”
“If my parents were still alive and knew Benson treated me like this, they would never forgive him either.”

“Can you understand that?”
I spoke bluntly, leaving her speechless, unsure how to respond.
To be fair, if she truly had a daughter… she probably wouldn’t encourage her to stay with a man like her
son.
A man who abandoned his pregnant girlfriend to care for his ex.
A man who still hadn’t shown his face at the hospital.
Thinking about Benson’s behavior, she became angry and took out her phone to call him again.
“Where are you? Didn’t I tell you Olivia was in trouble and needed you at the hospital?”
Benson replied casually: “Celine hurt her foot, so I took her for an exam.”
“It’s not like Olivia’s dying. What’s the rush?”
His attitude infuriated Mrs. Blake.
“Olivia lost the baby! You’re still out with some other woman? Get over here now!”
“Lost the baby? How could she lose the baby? Mom, stop joking around!” Benson laughed as if he’d heard something ridiculous.
“Alright, Mom, I’ll come by later. First it was Jason, now you–I don’t know what kind of spell Olivia’s cast
on you all!” He grumbled as he hung up.
