Chapter 6
Another hour passed before I finally saw him.
But he wasn’t alone–Celine was right behind him.
She wore a pink floral dress and, upon seeing me, cowered behind Benson like a frightened animal.
“Benson, the way Olivia’s looking at me… it’s terrifying.”
Immediately, Benson became her knight in shining armor, glaring at me.
“Olivia! How many times have I told you that Celine is ill? Why do you always target her?”
I nearly laughed at the absurdity.
Mrs. Blake was also furious at her son’s blindness, slapping the back of his head.
“What has Olivia done? She’s lying in a hospital bed!”
“You accuse her without cause and now you’re worried about someone else? Do you know she just lost your baby and is physically vulnerable?”
Before Benson could respond, he looked at me in surprise.
But Çeline seemed uncomfortable with the revelation.
“What A miscarriage? Olivia lost her baby?”
“It’s all my fault. If I hadn’t gotten sick, this wouldn’t have happened to Olivia…”
Her eyes reddened and tears appeared on cue.
I had to admire Celine’s acting skills.
But some men just seem to fall for this damsel–in–distress act.
I wasn’t surprised to see Benson waver once again.
Instead of considering my feelings, he immediately comforted Celine.
“How could this be your fault? The miscarriage is her own carelessness.”
“Besides, if she hadn’t caused your depression in the first place, you wouldn’t keep trying to hurt yourself.

These consequences are entirely her own doing!”
I let out a cold laugh, almost forgetting about this part.
In my previous life, Benson claimed he saw in Celine’s diary that I was responsible for her depression. I couldn’t understand how–I didn’t even know her before I started dating Benson, how I could have
possibly made her depressed?
Hearing my laugh, Benson frowned and approached my bed, as if bestowing a great favor.
“Fine, you’ve been through something difficult this time, I admit that. But do you really need to be so dramatic? You owe Celine, after all.”
“We can have another baby later. Why did you need me to come here?”
I flexed my wrist slightly and asked: “Benson, could you come closer? I need to discuss something with
you.”
Benson gave me a confused look, then slowly leaned in.
As his face came nearer, I summoned all my remaining strength and slapped him across the face with everything I had.
“PA!”
The sharp sound was followed by complete silence in the room.
Benson’s face was turned sideways from the force of my slap. He stared at me in disbelief.
He seemed unable to process that I would treat him with such open contempt.
After holding my gaze for a moment, his pupils trembled.
All the love and hope I once had when looking at him had vanished without a trace.
My eyes now held the same indifference I would show a stranger.
“Benson, we’re over!”
