Chapter 18 Stepmother’s Threat
Cynthia’s POV:

When I saw that little Omega brat wandering into the grove alone, I knew my chance had finally arrived.
She might have Alpha blood in her veins, but that didn’t change the fact that she was nothing more than a lowly Omega.
I slipped up behind her and grabbed her with ease.
Clutching her face, I twisted it roughly toward me and forced a fake smile. “Why so distant, Susan? After all, I’m your mother!”
Susan reacted quickly, trying to pry my hand away before turning to escape….
I was taken aback. When did she get so strong?
I yanked her back, covered her mouth, and whispered coldly, “You cost me my baby, and yet I still came to see you. Is this how you treat me?”
She shook her head as if desperate to explain.
I softened my voice and put on a sympathetic expression. “You didn’t push me, but if you hadn’t shown up out of nowhere and startled me, would I have fallen?”
I figured it’d be easy to manipulate a teenager. After all, kids believe what adults tell them.
“So, you need to take responsibility. I’ve already lost my baby. I’m the real victim here. When your uncles ask, you must say you pushed me. Got it?”
However, Susan tightly pursed her lips, her eyes filled with defiance.
My patience wore thin. Time was ticking, and that stubborn kid wasn’t cooperating.
I despised her. She was always so closed off. No matter how many times I struck her, she stayed silent and defiant. It was beyond frustrating.
My face darkened as I spoke in a frosty tone, “Susan, you’re being stubborn. Do you think I won’t hit you if you keep this up?”
There had been no witnesses that day, and no cameras recorded what happened. Whether or not Susan had pushed me, everyone in the Silvermoon Alliance would take her word over mine.

I narrowed my eyes, my voice low as I threatened, “Don’t think your uncles can always protect you! I’m a werewolf witch. I know magic. I can track you down whenever I want!”
But before I could react, Susan sank her teeth into my palm with surprising force.
I gasped, my instincts kicking in as I raised my hand to strike her.
Just as my hand was about to land on her face, the wolf fang bracelet on Susan’s wrist glowed softly, and she lashed out at me.
I scoffed. There was no way a lowly Omega could hurt me.
But in the next instant, a powerful force sent me flying into the bushes.
That was impossible!
Pain flared across my face as I lay on the ground, struggling to process what had just happened.
How could a weak Omega wield such strength–power that rivaled an Alpha’s?
When I finally got back on my feet, I saw Susan cradled in the arms of a man.
It was Eason! How long had he been there?
His icy glare pierced through me as he held Susan protectively. “How dare you lay a hand on Susan!”
His expression was filled with menace. As he approached, the air grew thick with his cedar- scented pheromones. The crushing aura of a high–ranking Alpha bore down on me, smothering me.
My heart pounded in fear. I waved my hands frantically, trying to explain, “No, Mr. Summers, you’ve got it wrong! I would never hurt Susan. I’m … I’m her mother, too!”
Eason’s stare turned even colder. His hand shot out, striking my face. “Her mother? You don’t deserve that title!“.
The fury in his eyes terrified me. “Mr. Summers…”
”
Before I could finish, he pressed my face to the ground.
“Agh!” I screamed as sharp stones tore into my flesh, the searing pain made worse by the silver powder on his claws.
Overhead, a parrot perched on a branch, rocking back and forth as it squawked. “Beat the

I cried in agony, but Eason showed no mercy. The pain was so intense I thought my head might burst. “Mr. Summers, please! Let me go! I’m sorry! I know I was wrong!” I sobbed, pleading through my tears.
Eason let out a cold snort before finally releasing me.
But he didn’t stop there. His foot struck my face, and a sharp crack signaled the breaking of my nose.
“Get lost!” he said coldly.
Blood streamed down my face. I was too terrified to make a sound. Clutching my injured face, I fled without looking back.
Once I made it to my room, I stared into the mirror. My face throbbed with pain, and tiny stones were embedded in my skin. Gritting my teeth, I dug them out one by one, each movement sending fresh waves of agony through me.
How could Eason be so cruel? What kind of man would treat a woman with such brutality?
“Hiss…” Even the gentlest touch sent sharp pain radiating through my face. My reflection was a mess of swelling and cuts, and my once–straight nose now sat crookedly.
I had always taken pride in my looks. My beauty was my greatest asset.
After leaving Frank, I believed my appearance would help me find a new Alpha from another tribe. My face was supposed to be my ticket to a better life.
But now, deep gashes marred my skin, and silver poison burned through the wounds. Even if the cuts healed, the scars would remain.
My once–perfect face was destroyed!
“Ah!” I cried out, fury bubbling over as I smashed the mirror. I couldn’t accept that.
