Susan’s POV:

Grandpa held my hand as we walked into the room, gently patting my back. “Susan, this is your room. What do you think?”
My ears twitched.
I looked around–the room was soft pink and white, glowing like moonlight. It was dreamy, just right for a 13–year–old girl like me. My heart raced a little.
The bed was a wolf den fortress, with a wooden ladder leading up like my own secret watchtower–perfect for spying on things.
Beside it, a slide connected to a low sofa, and there was an extra–wide vanity mirror with prints carved along the edges. I stared at my reflection, dazed.
The vanity was covered in treasures–wolf fang pendants, leather–string flower crowns, sparkling hair clips. My fingers itched to try them on and show them off.

I widened my eyes, clenched the hem of my shirt, and looked up. “Grandpa, is this really my room?” My voice trembled like fur blown apart by the wind.
Back at Frank’s place, my room was pitifully small–barely half this bed’s size–and so damp that my hair was always wet.
Grandma always scolded me, calling me a bringer of misfortune, saying I carried bad luck and that living in a good place would ruin the clan’s fate. I’d just shrink back and stay silent whenever I heard that.
Grandpa grinned, revealing his fangs. “Of course, it’s yours, little wolf.”
The moment I called him Grandpa, warmth flickered in his eyes.
“Do you like it?” Uncle Eason leaned in and playfully scratched my ear. I shrank my neck–it tickled a little.
I nodded hard, like I had just eaten honey, my heart bursting with happiness. “Thank you, Grandpa! Thank you, Uncle Eason!”
Grandpa watched me, his gaze a little heavy. I knew he was sighing–I was too cautious, like a cub stepping into unfamiliar territory for the first time.
He likely desired to observe me hurl myself at him without fear, wag my tail, and run around. But I didn’t dare. I tightly clenched my hands.

school to play with you, alright?”
My ears perked up. I tilted my head. “Cousins?”
I sniffed the air, trying to catch their scent. My heartbeat quickened.

Uncle Eason grinned. “Uncle Ivan and Uncle Zain’s children consist of three older brothers and one older sister. They’re at school learning to shift forms and retract their claws.”
I lowered my head, picking at my fingers, staying quiet. But my eyes betrayed my anticipation, and my toes scraped the floor twice–I couldn’t hide my excitement.
Back in the Grayclaw Tribe, the only ones I had to play with were parrots.
Once, I crouched by my window, watching the wolf cubs outside chase each other, tails wagging. My hands clenched with envy–I wanted to rush out and join them so badly.
I suddenly looked up, my eyes sparkling. “Uncle Eason, can I have some paper and pencils? I want to draw paw print gifts for my cousins!”
Hannah’s (cousin) POV:
Why are there so many cars parked outside Silvermoon Manor today?
Mom held my hand as we stepped out of the car. She was wearing that flashy Elizabeth hat again. Dressed in a puffy skirt, I held two dolls in my arms, the ribbon on my head bouncing.
I lowered my head, sniffing my dolls. I hid my fluffy ears under my hair. Mom glanced at me and said, “Hannah, give one of the dolls to your sister later. Got it?” Her tone was a little firm.
I stayed silent, pouting as I tightened my grip on my dolls.
A little sister? I don’t want one! Everything in my room belongs to me!
Mom frowned and tapped my forehead. “Didn’t we just agree? One is for you, and the other is for your sister. Don’t throw a wolf tantrum!”
Her eyes flashed a warning.
I bristled, my tail almost slipping out from under my dress. “No! Both are mine!” With that, I bolted toward the manor, my footsteps thudding against the ground.
Jesse Summers strolled over lazily, ears drooping. He muttered, “I don’t want a sister either.” He glanced at me, hands in his pockets, clearly uninterested.
I glared at him. fists clenched. “You don’t like her either?”

I ran straight to my room and slammed the door shut. Panting, I shook my hair out, revealing my pointed wolf ears.
A sister? Whatever. I’m the real owner of this room!
My phone rang–it was Grandma.

I picked up, my voice still filled with frustration. “Hello? Grandma.” My fingers dug into the bedsheet.
Grandma’s voice was sweet like honey. “Who made my little wolf princess so angry? Your ears must be standing straight up.” I could already picture her squinting as she smiled.
I pouted and stared at my dolls. “Mom wants me to give one to my sister. I won’t!” I clutched the doll’s dress, nearly tearing it.
Grandma huffed. “It’s that new girl, Susan, isn’t it? I heard her dad left her covered in claw marks. The Silvermoon cubs went crazy trying to save her.”
I nodded, eyes widening. “Yeah!” I glanced down at my doll. The soft, fluffy fabric made my fingers itch. But I still didn’t want to share.
Grandma’s voice dropped a little. “Hannah, you are no longer the sole princess in the family, as there is now another little princess. Grandpa, your uncles, and even your dad will all dote on her instead of you.”
My ears twitched in anger. “Grandma, that’s nonsense!” But her words scratched at something inside me, leaving a sour ache. Even my tail drooped.
She chuckled. “You used to be the only girl among the cubs. But now there’s another one. And what’s the first thing they ask? They expect you to hand over your doll to her. See? They’re already favoring her.”
I exploded, tears rolling down my cheeks. I hung up.
Grabbing the doll, I hurled it onto the floor, yanking and thrashing it until its dress tore.
A knock came from the door. My ears pricked up. Susan, you’re such a brat!
I yanked the door open. She stood there timidly, clutching a drawing in her small hands.
“Hannah?” Her voice was soft, her bright eyes locked onto mine.
I grabbed the broken doll and threw it at her. “Get lost! You stupid brat!”
Her tiny hands stiffened. A shadow flickered in her eyes as she lowered her gaze to the doll on
