Devil’s Saints: Taz
Chapter 16: Round One
No matter how many fights Taz wins, an angry wife scares me more. – Kevin
There was another week before her next fight. She had been working with her trainers and she loved being able to focus on nothing more than training. But she wanted to do something for the club. They had done so much for her. She had two sponsors now. They were small, and there was no pay. But the fees for her next few fights were covered.
That was all thanks to Priscilla.
The fifteen–year–old would call and speak with the company representative. Arrange a meeting. Tell Taz and Toad the details. And once she came over after school, she would ask for details. Whenever the representative asked, they simply said that Priscilla was either in a meeting or an assistant. They never knew that it was a high school student that was setting everything up.
Taz walked into the gym to work off some frustration and found Knuckles and Spider in the ring. She knew what to expect from Knuckles. They had thrown punches at each other all of their lives. But, Spider, she was impressed with his skills.
Spider landed on the mat close to where Taz stood. She murmured something before he got up. As he stood, he nodded to her. Within a few minutes, Spider had knocked Knuckles down. He lay on his back and let himself be counted out.
Turning his head to his cousin, he smiled. “Cheater.”
“Sharing of knowledge.” She corrected with a grin. “But if you want to go a round with me….”
“I will leave that to the victor.” Knuckles rolled out of the ring and Taz rolled in. “It’s been nice knowing you, Spider.”
“I’m not going to kill him.” Taz chuckled. “Intentionally.”
“Do you want gloves?” Spider asked.
“No, I’m not cold. Thanks for asking.” She replied with a grin as she pulled off her sweatshirt. She was in black leggings and a bright blue fitted tank top. Her slip on shoes lay on the floor.
They circled each other for a moment and then Spider took a few hits to her abdomen. He had assumed that she was in good shape and strong. But the strong wall of muscle surprised him. She smiled at his look of shock.
Taz gave a hard right to his abdomen and then a left hook to his jaw and he was falling back. Leaning against the ropes he shook
his head.
“Sledge!” Spider called, rubbing his jaw. “Find a new name.”
“Why?” Sledge asked from the weight bench.
“I swear I just got hit by damn sledgehammer.”

“I’ll be sure to hit hard next time.” Taz teased.
“Kevin training with you today?” Knuckles asked.
“No. His wife insisted on him spending their anniversary with her.” She shrugged her shoulders. “You want to go a few rounds?”
“How stupid do you think I am? And do not feel obligated to answer that. I’ll hold the heavy bag for you.”
“I’ll take it.” She rolled off the mat and went over to her locker. Taz pulled on some wrist braces and weights on her arms and legs.

Chapter 16: Round One
“What’s up with the weights? Spider asked.
“The harder I can hit with the weights; the harder I can hit without them.”
Knuckles took his place behind the heavy bag and hoped that he would not regret this. After the first few hits and kicks, he decided he was an idiot. He was already regretting his decision to help.
