“Hmm?” I paused, raising my gaze to look at him. Did he smell my shower gel in the bathroom? Or did he smell my body?
Kaleb hesitated for a few seconds and said, “I want to switch brands.”
I was a little confused. I walked to the corner and picked up a bottle of shower gel that I usually used and handed it to him. He calmly took it over, without looking at the ingredients, and put it directly into the shopping cart.
The two of us moved to another shelf, and he asked again,“Where is the shampoo?”
I wondered, “Also changed?”
He explained lightly, “The one at home was no longer usable.”
I looked up at his dark short hair, so thick that it didn’t matter if a few strands fell out! I didn’t dare to say so, and handed him a bottle of shampoo that I often used.
Kaleb didn’t answer; he just gave me a look, indicating me to put it in the shopping cart. I put down my clear and lively eyes, which were filled with a hint of misty beauty, and gazed silently at him. Kaleb looked into my eyes, then looked away after a few seconds. His Adam’s apple moved up and down, and he pushed the cart forward.
I kept up with his pace once again. Passing through the snack section, I saw the bamboo shoots ahead and started salivating. Kaleb reached out and pulled a few bundles of bamboo shoots, placing them in the shopping cart. I was somewhat moved. Thinking back to the gathering of Stanford University classmates, it seemed like Kaleb had a good understanding of my preferences.
“Katrina.” Kaleb called me.
I hurriedly quickened my pace and walked forward, responding with a soft and gentle tone, “What’s wrong?” “What did you want to eat for dinner?”
“Whatever!”
“No such dish!” Kaleb said as he walked, glancing sideways at the basket of vegetables and
greens.
I chuckled lightly, pursed my lips and thought for a moment, “Anything that saves time and effort will do.”
