‘B–Break their legs?‘ Bill repeated it in his mind. His legs wobbled as he swallowed hard, stammering, “Are… Are you sure? They’re the CEO of the Jackson Group and his wife.”
Before he could finish, Sean shot him a frosty glare, sharp as a blade, instantly sending chills down his spine. Realizing his misstep, Bill quickly clamped his mouth shut.
Giovani, the heir of the Campbell family, was known for his ruthlessness. But no one expected his driver to have such a terrifying aura.
Just moments ago, Sean had been gentle and considerate, helping Camila adjust her dress. Bill had thought he was approachable. Now, it was clear how cold and merciless Sean truly was.
Bill regretted letting Arthur and Belinda in so easily.
The Jackson Group had some influence, but it paled in comparison to the Campbell Group. The Campbells‘ power was undeniable, and even the prominent Jacksons had to tread carefully around them. As a mere security guard. Bill couldn’t afford to offend them.
Arthur had offered 30 thousand dollars, a sum so tempting that Bill couldn’t refuse.
Bill took the risk partly for the money and partly because he thought the crowded banquet would hide the fact that the couple had no invitation. Now, it felt like he had dug his own grave.
If he disobeyed, he was sure Sean could make him vanish without a trace. Weighing his options, Bill waved his hand, signaling his men to drag Arthur and Belinda into the dark alley.
Soon, screams echoed from the alley, sharp and harrowing.
Sean stood at the alley’s entrance, his expression calm and indifferent, as if this was just another day at work. He lit a cigarette and smoked in silence. By the time he finished, the screams had ceased.
Bill emerged from the alley to see Sean still standing there, composed and unbothered. He silently felt relieved that he hadn’t just pretended to hit the couple.
He quickly dropped the blood–stained club in his hand and approached Sean. “It’s done, just as you instructed.”
Sean nodded, flicked away his cigarette butt, and crushed it underfoot. Then, he patted Bill’s shoulder. “Good job. I’ll let your mistake of letting uninvited guests into the banquet slide this time.”
Bill forced a laugh. “I’ll be more careful in the future.”
Sean said nothing, his gaze fixed on Bill, as if peering into his very soul. After a long pause, he spoke slowly, “You know, the Campbells don’t like leaving loose ends.”
Bill’s pulse quickened. “I–I understand. I’ll delete all the surveillance footage around here and clean up the blood in the alley right away…”
Sean seemed satisfied with Bill’s quick understanding. “Go ahead,” he replied curtly.
Relieved, Bill nodded repeatedly.
At that moment, there was movement in the alley. Arthur and Belinda, their legs broken, were dragged out by the security guards, leaving long trails of blood on the ground.
Sean glanced at the bloodstains, a faint smirk curling his lips. Now, they had avenged Camila’s broken leg. But this was only the beginning.

A sleek luxury van rolled into Sancho, its exterior gleaming in the sunlight. Inside, two women sat in the back.
One wore a striking red gown, her loose curls cascading over her shoulders and bold crimson lips adding to her allure. Despite her age, she looked in her mid–thirties, with a curvy figure and the beauty of a wealthy socialite.
Beside her sat another woman in a simple yet elegant white dress, her hair neatly pinned up to reveal a long, graceful neck. She exuded a clean, refined charm, like a delicate porcelain doll.
The woman in the white dress was Agnes, who was on her way to Northeville.
For the past month in Northeville, Agnes had been tirelessly digging up every piece of information she could find about Giovani.
Rumors claimed his twisted and ruthless nature was because he couldn’t perform as a man. Agnes had dismissed them, and as she learned more, she realized the rumors were far from the truth. Giovani was, in fact, a man of extraordinary talent and impeccable self–control.
The rumors were nothing but lies. They came from a childhood friend of Giovani’s, a woman who was obsessively in love with him.
She saw him as her possession and tried to keep other women away. But despite her threats and bribes, women were still drawn to Giovani’s brilliance.
In a desperate attempt to scare them off, she made up those vile rumors, painting Giovani as a man who couldn’t perform in relationships. Her plan worked; the women in Northeville began to look at Giovani with suspicion and unease.
As the heir to the Campbell family, Giovani had the power to crush those rumors with ease. But instead, he let them spread. Because they served his purpose–keeping annoying women at a distance.
Giovani found the outcome convenient, but he wasn’t the type to let a betrayal go. At just twenty–two, he destroyed his childhood friend’s family business, ignoring the long–standing relationship between their families. He even exiled her to Halisland without a second thought.
Once a wealthy heiress in Northeville, she was reduced to a life of hardship, surviving on meager rations. Within a year, she was said to have lost over thirty pounds and fallen into deep depression.
Six years had passed since then, and no one cared to check on her anymore. But it was clear to everyone that her life hadn’t improved. And this was merely the price of spreading false rumors about Giovani.
Giovani, known as the “Tyrant of the Business World,” truly lived up to his fearsome reputation. His ruthless tactics ensured that, from that incident onward, no one dared to approach him lightly.
Agnes leaned back against the plush seat, her lips curling into a confident smile. She didn’t flinch because of Giovani’s ruthlessness, but became more interested in him.
To Agnes, Giovani’s childhood friend was a complete fool–she had no clue what men wanted in a woman, yet she still pursued him. Agnes thought it was only fitting that she ended up in Halisland, living on scraps.
Men were all about pride and ego. They preferred delicate, clingy women who depended on them, not some crazy woman running around spreading rumors about their “performance issues in bed.”
‘I’m the kind of soft and sweet woman who can sweep a confident, commanding man like Giovani off his feet. Any man I want is mine–Owen was, William was, and Giovani will be no exception,‘ she thought confidently.
Agnes glanced at the stunning woman beside her. It was Robin Campbell, Giovani’s stepmother.
“To win Giovani over, I don’t necessarily have to go after him directly. A smarter move would be to charm his mother first. If

I can win over my future mother–in–law, I’ll be one step closer to securing Giovani, Agnes thought.
Agnes flashed a pure, radiant smile. “Robin, we were having such a great time in Northeville. What made you decide to come all the way to Sancho?”
From the very beginning, she had decided to position herself as Robin’s friend.

No woman could resist compliments on her youth and beauty. When Agnes first met Robin, she said in amazement, “Wow, your skin is so fair and smooth. It’s like a baby’s. And your figure is stunning. You have to teach me your secrets.
For a woman nearing fifty, being complimented on her youth was utterly delightful. Robin had been absolutely thrilled, her smile practically glowing with joy.
Of course, as a wealthy socialite, Robin was used to flattery. But Agnes, with her Sancho accent, clearly wasn’t from Northeville. This made Robin think Agnes didn’t recognize her and wasn’t just flattering her for some favor.
Moreover, Agnes was great at seeming innocent and pure. When Robin looked into her clear eyes, she believed the praise was genuine. With every word, Agnes felt the gap between them close. Robin was completely taken in.
Agnes was clever because she pretended not to know Robin. She acted like she had no idea they were heading to Giovani’s grandmother’s birthday celebration, letting people think she was just in Sancho for a casual trip with Robin.
With an excited expression, Agnes said, “Since we’re in Sancho, you have to visit my house. My mom will be thrilled to meet someone as gorgeous as you.”
Robin replied, “Today is my mother–in–law’s eightieth birthday. I came to Sancho mainly to celebrate with her. But after the banquet, I’d love to visit your home.”
Agnes immediately put on a look of disbelief. “No way! You’re already married? You look so young. I was just thinking of setting you up with my brother.”
