Becomes a Public Mockery
“Flora, if anything happens to her, just wait and see how you’ll explain yourself!” Ryan Lewis warned me ominously, cradling Sophia Garcia and striding away swiftly.
I stood there dazed for a while, Ryan Lewis’s angry, remorseful face replaying in my mind.
The promises we once made to each other felt particularly bitter now. When did he change hist heart? How could I not have noticed?
I was trapped in a deep abyss of pain until Miss.Parker walked in, concern etched on her face as she asked if I was okay. It jolted me back
to reality.
It wasn’t worth feeling sorrow over such a scumbag; I straightened my posture and
returned to work.
As noon approached, my phone rang,

I saw it was Lila Garcia calling and simply hung
- up.
Not long after, my phone buzzed again.
This time, it was my dad calling.
A sense of dread filled me. Could it be that
Sophia Garcia hadn’t made it? Had she died?
After hesitating for a few seconds, I answered
the call.
But as soon as I held the phone to my ear, my dad’s thunderous roar slammed into my eardrum like a lion’s growl.
“Flora! You’re absolutely insane! Sophia is already weak, and you pushed her to the
ground!”
I pulled the phone away and let him finish his tirade before calmly responding, “There are cameras in my office; you can watch the truth for yourself.”
But I knew that even if they watched, they would still place the blame squarely on me.

Sure enough, my dad retorted, “Does the truth even matter? What matters is that your sister has a terminal illness, and you don’t even feel sorry for her or show an ounce of humility!”
I couldn’t be bothered to argue; talking more would just be a waste of breath.
Seeing me silent, my dad grew frustrated with his rant, then softened slightly, saying, “Fine, Sophia Garcia wants you to be the witness at
her wedding. Since you’re free that day, just help her out.”
“Are you not afraid that I’ll ruin her wedding? I might just go.”
After a moment of silence, my dad said, “Don’t you want shares of the company? If you simply act as a wedding witness, I’ll transfer to you the shares that originally belonged to your mother.”
I was taken aback.
The shares that were originally my mother’s -over the years, I had tried countless ways to obtain even a fraction of them and had come

“Just transfer half to me now; after the
wedding, you can transfer the remaining half,” I proposed, wary of any tricks he might have up his sleeve.
“Fine, we’ll do it your way.” My dad hesitated for a moment before agreeing, then added through gritted teeth, “Just like your mother, insatiably greedy.”
I wasn’t going to back down: “It’s still better
than being cold–hearted and ungrateful like
you.”
Sophia Garcia, after that fall, was seemingly
even worse than before.
By the day of the wedding, she could barely manage to get out of bed and walk.
The wedding dress I had painstakingly sewn was tailored to my measurements.

underweight, the dress fit her poorly, being
loose around the chest and waist.
“Flora’s craftsmanship isn’t that impressive after all; she boasts about winning so many international awards, yet the dress doesn’t
even fit right,” Lila Garcia complained, looking at her daughter in the wedding dress with
disdain.
I couldn’t help but mock, “It was specifically
made according to my size. How can you complain about grabbing someone else’s things?”
“You-”
“Mom!” Sophia Garcia interjected, grasping Lila Garcia’s arm and speaking softly, “Don’t blame my sister; it doesn’t matter. It’ll just make it easier to wear and take off.”
After saying that, Sophia Garcia turned to me with a beaming smile, “Flora, thank you for making my dream come true.”
I felt a wave of nausea wash over me and
wanted to step outside for some fresh air.

I had just reached the door when I spotted Ryan Lewis walking toward me.
Dressed in a custom–made suit, he looked strikingly handsome, exuding an air of
refinement, so prestigious that people passing by couldn’t help but turn their heads in his
direction.
The wedding suit was one I had designed and made for him myself. Now, seeing it on him felt like a slap in the face.
“Flora,” he called my name softly, but I ignored him, rolling my eyes as I turned to slip past him. However, my dad’s voice came from behind me, “Where do you think you’re going? The wedding is about to start. Your sister is weak; you need to help her out.”
I turned back, looking at the room full of people, incredulous, “I’m supposed to help her?”
Lila Garcia responded, “You’re the witness and her sister. What’s wrong with helping your sister?”

My anger flared up, but I didn’t get to say anything before Ryan Lewis chimed in, “Flora, you pushed her last time, and her condition has worsened. The wedding dress is too long and heavy for her-”
His shameless words were unbearable. Before he could finish, I shot him a cold glare and stormed back inside.
Sophia Garcia raised her arm, waiting for me as though she were a princess and I were her
maid.
“Thank you, Flora,” she said with a smile as her
arm draped over mine. I felt she was gloating.
Let her gloat!
Regardless, the grim reapers were already standing by her side; I would just consider this a way to earn some good fortune for my future
and endure it!
The wedding began.
The elegant and grand wedding march.

resounded throughout the golden hall, with the majestic double doors slowly swinging open. All the camera flashes converged on Sophia Garcia
and me.
I gritted my teeth, feeling as if a mountain was pressing down on my chest, making it hard to
breathe.
Under the spotlight, I held Sophia Garcia’s arm, stepping step by step onto the red carpet.
The moment we appeared, I felt the stunned silence in the room. The guests were in shock, whispering among themselves.
“What’s going on? Isn’t the bride Miss. Flora? Why is Miss.Sophia in a wedding dress?”
“Yeah! Did they make a mistake with the
bride?”
“The bride turned into a bridesmaid? What kind
of joke is the Garcia family playing?”
I listened to their whispers, suppressing my humiliation and anger as I guided Sophia
Garcia to the end of the red carpet.

There stood Ryan Lewis, elegant and noble, his handsome face clouded with emotion, and his eyes seemed to shimmer with unshed tears.
He didn’t look at me; his eager gaze was clearly
fixed on Sophia Garcia.
My heart felt like it was bursting open again, enveloped in a poisonous fog that suffocated my insides.
I couldn’t believe that this was the man I had
loved deeply for eight years, the man I had invested everything in!
He claimed to be fulfilling Sophia Garcia’s last wish so she could leave without regrets, but how did I get the feeling that the one he truly wanted to marry, the one he genuinely loved, was Sophia Garcia?
Tears filled my eyes unexpectedly, blurring my vision as I instinctively let go of Sophia Garcia’s
hand.
Ryan Lewis reached out to catch her, gently embracing her as they gazed into each other’s

eyes, stepping onto the stage together.
I turned away and sat back down in the front row, beneath the stage.
I had thought my heart had gone numb, that I could watch this wedding as an outsider and find some amusement in it. Yet, unexpectedly, I found myself weak and unable to maintain my composure in the face of such pain.
A clean, long hand appeared beside me, extending toward me, holding out a handkerchief.
The owner of that hand said nothing, and I wasn’t in the mood to turn and see who it was. I simply took the handkerchief and rasped, “Thank you.”
“You’re welcome.” The deep, melodious voice broke through the noise, crisp and clear, cutting through the surrounding chaos. “Not being able to marry you is his misfortune.”
I pressed the handkerchief to my stinging eyes, taking deep breaths, trying not to acknowledge who was sitting beside me.

Suddenly, my dad appeared, speaking with extreme politeness, “Mr.Cole, I apologize for the disturbance. The VIP seats are over there; could you please move?”
“No need, I’ll sit here,” replied the man they called Mr.Cole, his tone smooth but condescending.
My dad was about to say more when the emcee on stage invited the elders from both sides to come up, and Lila Garcia hurriedly pulled him
away.
I raised my head, attempting to calm myself, still needing to return the handkerchief to my pocket when the announcement came over the loudspeaker: “Now, let us welcome today’s wedding officiant, Miss. Flora Garcia!”
Suddenly, the spotlight beamed down on me,
catching me completely off guard.
The previously bustling atmosphere fell silent in
an instant. I knew all the guests were shocked —some felt sympathy for me, while others
awaited the drama.
