Chapter 19: My Filter on
Sebastian Cole
I was taken aback and quickly pushed the door open to get out. “I’m sorry, Mr. Clark. The car was too comfortable; I accidentally fell asleep. You should have woken me!”
“Miss Garcia, there’s no need to worry. It was Mr.Sebastian who instructed us not to wake you. He said you must be tired from working so hard,” Mr.Clark replied with a smile, gesturing for me to go inside.
I followed behind, still digesting Mr.Clark’s
words.
“Oh no! Mr.Cole knew I slept in the car?”
Heavens! How embarrassing!
“Indeed, when your car arrived, Mr.Sebastian was just about to leave and ran into you. The driver informed him that you were sleeping
in the car, and he just let us know not to wake you.”

What?
Sebastian Cole actually looked at me?
I felt disoriented and instinctively touched.
my mouth with one hand, wondering if I had drooled or something!
I felt like dying.
When I met Mrs. Cole, I quickly explained why I
was late, but she interrupted me.
“It’s alright. You young people work so hard; it can be tough. It’s strange–I wish I had met you sooner. Time is short, and I didn’t want you to be so exhausted.”
Mrs.Cole was especially gracious and even
made excuses for me.
I felt even more embarrassed. “Madam, it’s not your fault. It’s just that my family has had a lot going on recently, and I’ve been quite busy. But don’t worry, I won’t delay your birthday celebration, and I’m putting great care into the
clothes.”

“I believe you.”
I showed Mrs.Cole the design drawings and the preliminary sample, making adjustments to the details according to her requests.
We were busy until nearly noon, finally clarifying all her requirements.
“Miss.Garcia, why don’t you stay and have lunch with us? It’s already noon,” Mrs.Cole invited me warmly.
I felt quite apologetic. “Thank you for your kindness, but I promised my grandmother I would visit her today. I had already arranged it, so I’m really sorry.”
“Of course, you should spend time with your grandmother, and I apologize for scheduling things poorly. I shouldn’t have made you work
on the weekend.”
Once again, I had flustered her, but not only did she not get angry, she instead reassured me.
If I hadn’t seen it with my own eyes, I wouldn’t

have believed there were such wonderful
people in the world,
After saying goodbye to Mrs.Cole, I gathered my
things and left he Cole Manor.
Just as I was about to get into the car, a black Audi slowly approached.
“Mr.Sebastian is back,” Mr. Clark said with a smile as he stepped forward.
My heart warmed slightly, and the image of that elegant figure came to mind, filling me with a strange anticipation to see him.
But I didn’t dare show it. Instead, I awkwardly hugged my belongings and stood by the car
door of that Cadillac.
The Audi came to a stop, and Mr.Clark opened
the door, Out stepped Sebastian Cole, dressed in casual athletic wear, exuding a refined air.
“It’s already noon; Miss.Garcia, aren’t you staying for lunch?” Sebastian Cole asked gently
upon seeing me.

It was only then that I raised my eyes to meet
his.
I assumed he had gone to play ball, as his handsome face showed a hint of flush from exercise, making his dark eyes appear even brighter. When he fixed his gaze on someone, it caused an inexplicable tension.
“No, thank you. I have a family gathering for lunch; it was planned a while ago,” I replied with a smile, unaware that I was trying to act
more demure.
“Right, weekends are for spending time with family,” he nodded in agreement, echoing Mrs.Cole’s sentiments.
We didn’t know each other well, and our social circles didn’t overlap.
This small talk left the atmosphere awkwardly quiet.
Naturally, I dropped my gaze.
As my eyes fell, they glided over his waist, reminding me of the last time I had taken his

measurements–what could only be described as a rather inappropriate act.
Suddenly, I found myself at a loss for where to look.
“How are the clothes coming along? Is mother satisfied?” Sebastian Cole spoke up again, jolting me back to reality.
“Hmm?” I responded, startled.
Noticing my spaced–out expression, a smile appeared on his handsome face, and he
gestured toward the garment bag I was holding.
“Oh!” I realized what he meant and quickly
replied, “They’re quite good, but some details need adjustment. I’ll make the changes when I get back.”
Fearing that he might think I lacked skills, I added hastily, “I’ll work quickly; I definitely won’t delay Mrs. Cole’s birthday celebration.”
“Hmm, there’s no rush. If time is tight, just
make a couple of sets first. Your health is more important; don’t wear yourself out too much.”

His kind reminder brought back memories of my embarrassment from dozing off in the car that morning, and I felt my face heat up.
Sebastian Cole noticed my discomfort and took a couple of steps closer, “Since Miss Garcia has a lunch appointment, I won’t keep you. We can talk another day”
I came back to my senses and nodded repeatedly, “Okay, Mr.Cole, goodbye”
“Goodbye”
As I sat in the car, I was stunned when he actually walked over to personally close the door for me, waving goodbye through the car window as the vehicle began to roll away,
I couldn’t help but think I might have a bias toward wealthy people.
I felt that every gesture of his, whether it was a smile or a moment of stillness, and even the way the wind caught a few strands of his hair, exuded something uniquely captivating

The deep–rooted refinement and upbringing
in him, that innate sense of privilege and elegance, all of it left me in awe.
As the Cadillac rolled away, I found myself looking back on impulse.
Sebastian Cole still stood at the door, watching my departure.
My heart raced, filled with a mix of emotions I couldn’t quite articulate.
Yet, his lofty status and nobility made me hesitant to decipher what those feelings really
were.
When I arrived at my grandmother’s house, my aunt and the nanny had already prepared
lunch.
I had been so busy lately that I hadn’t sat down for a proper meal in a long time. Seeing the abundant spread before me brought warmth to my heart.
During the meal, my aunt asked about the
auction.

I felt a slight jolt of anxiety.
In front of my grandmother, I couldn’t bring myself to speak the truth, so I confidently replied, “Don’t worry, I have managed to gather all the money.”
My grandmother was curious. “Where did you get so much money?”
As I munched on the garlic ribs, I spoke with my mouth full, “I sold the villa to Ryan. He still had a bit of conscience and gave me over thirty million dollars, which is enough to redeem the jade bracelet.”
My grandmother sighed, “He’s so foolish, all for Sophia–one wrong step leads to another.”
“He’s not just foolish; he’s purely bad,” I said, clearly not wanting to bring him up. I quickly changed the subject.
After lunch, my grandmother went to take a
nap.
Just as I was about to leave, my aunt called me

“Be honest, how much are you still short?”
I glanced at my aunt, knowing I couldn’t hide. the truth anymore, and said honestly, “I’ve tried every possible way, but I can only gather two to thirty million. I probably still need another seventy million.”
My aunt frowned, clearly shocked by that astronomical figure.
“I can raise twenty million,” my aunt said after a moment of contemplation.
I was taken aback. “Aunt, where are you getting that much money?”
She smiled lightly. “I’ve saved some over the years, and there’s some at home. I can definitely manage twenty million.”
“But what if uncle finds out?”
“He will understand. After all, it’s your mother’s legacy, and it’s something dear to mother,” my aunt said, trying to ease my concerns. “I’m

not in a hurry for that money. Let’s get your mother’s jade bracelet first.”
“Okay, thank you, aunt. My company has been doing well, so I’ll pay you back with interest later.”
“Hmm.”
That evening, my aunt transferred exactly twenty million dollars.
I asked around among my close friends, using my company as collateral and managed to raise a few more million.
With that, I had a total of fifty million.
With less than a week until the auction and
a remaining gap of fifty million, I considered every possible way to come up with the money. I even contemplated selling the company, but there simply wasn’t enough time to execute that in just a few days.
After much thought, there was only one option left.
