Kaleb’s eyes glazed over slightly as he slowly placed his clenched hand into his pocket.“What would you like for breakfast?” He got up and walked towards the kitchen, the wind he brought along brushing my hair ends,
I also stood up and asked, “Is there any leftover pizza from last night?”
“There was.” Last night, I did too much and put the leftovers in the refrigerator.
“Hot is fine, I still want to cat.” I didn’t care about the hair tie and followed him into the kitchen. Kaleb baked a hot pizza, while I took oranges out of the refrigerator to make juice. The airflow in the kitchen was warm, and although the two of us didn’t have much communication, it was cozy.
He came out holding a pizza, while I came out holding two cups of juice. After we sat down, we quietly had breakfast.
I felt that my long hair was getting in the way. I stood up straight, looked around, and walked over to the cabinet. I took out a pencil from the drawer and skillfully rolled up my long hair, securing it with the pencil at the back of my head. My hair, though soft, was long enough to be securely tied up. As I turned around, my gaze met Kaleb’s eyes, a fleeting touch that lasted only a moment. The man’s eyes were intense, but he quickly averted them, lowering his head to continue eating breakfast.
It was a curious look, right? I didn’t care. I sat back down at the dining table and continued eating breakfast. Kaleb took a sip of juice and asked, “Medicine Trade Fair, is your company going to participate?” I didn’t expect him to talk about work.
“Yeah, today was the last day to set up the booth. Our company doesn’t have a lot of medicine, so we will put all of it at this exhibition.” I said while eating, a little bit of soup dripped from the corner of my mouth. I licked it with my tongue and reached out to grab a tissue.
That moment! Kaleb had already handed me the tissue. I was slightly startled and raised my gaze to look at him. The man’s action of handing over the paper was so fast, like a conditioned reflex, that it startled me.
