Chapter70.
Xander nodded and didn’t ask further.
I took a taxi to the factory. Along the way, I quietly admired the scenery.

Arriving at the factory on the island, I showed my identity, and the factory manager, along with the administration and finance staff, immediately came out to greet me. The factory manager was a man of about 40 years old, of medium height, slightly overweight, with dark skin. Seeing me, a flattering smile spread across his face.
We exchanged brief introductions. The factory manager’s name was Lucas Bennett, a local who had worked there for fifteen years, starting as a workshop worker.
“We heard Mr. Shaw was coming to inspect the branch company, and we were very happy and excited. Everyone wants to see him,” Lucas Bennett said passionately.

“I suppressed a laugh.“I’m afraid he won’t be able to make it this time, his schedule is too packed, so you’ll have to settle for me.”
“Ms. Wells is more beautiful than a beauty queen, how can it be settling?”
“Factory Manager Bennett, you’re very good at complimenting people.”
After a pleasant but hypocritical exchange, Lucas Bennett took me to tour the management office area, the workshop, and the cafeteria. I wasn’t in a hurry, asking questions about production while taking photos. I said I would pass these pictures to Mr, Shaw.
Lucas Bennett acknowledged my explanation. After a quick survey of the factory, it was lunchtime. I said I wanted to eat in the cafeteria. I joined the employee lunch line and deliberately sat with three female omega
workers after getting my food.
I started with light conversation, and once we were comfortable, I casually asked about their time clock procedures. The clocking machine was at the workshop entrance, with no cameras. That meant that even if someone used two cards, they wouldn’t be detected.
“I heard there are ghosts here,” I whispered.
One worker looked startled.“Where did you hear that?”
“The general manager from the main office,” I replied. “He said there are two people clocking in every day, but they’ve never actually been seen.”
The three women’s expressions shifted – disbelief, confusion, fear.
After a while, an older worker hesitantly said, “Is it someone named Samuel Drake and Avery Stone?”
My eyes lit up.“That’s right. It seems you know.”
“I’ve been here a long time; they were new hires. At first, we didn’t notice. We were all so exhausted from work every day that we didn’t care who showed up. Later, people started to notice that nobody recognized these two names on the employee list, and nobody had ever seen them. We asked the workshop supervisor, and he rudely told us to mind our own business, so we

stopped asking.”
Another worker exclaimed, “This is terrifying! Who’s clocking in then? A ghost?”
A third chimed in, equally frightened, “Maybe it’s someone who died in an accident here? I heard they sometimes repeat their actions from when they were alive.”
I remained silent, while my wolf sneered, “BULLSHIT!”
From their reactions, it was clear the employees were unaware. The voice recorder in my bag had been running the whole time, capturing every name they mentioned. Meanwhile, the statistics department, finance, and Factory Manager Lucas were all observing us.
That afternoon, I called the workshop supervisor, HR, the statistics and finance departments, and Lucas Bennett into a meeting.
I smiled.“I’d like to meet Samuel Drake and Avery Stone.”
Everyone was speechless.
The workshop supervisor slammed the door shut and locked it.
