Chapter 131 Owen Lost His Legs

Consumed by rage, Owen grabbed the iron bars and shook them violently, his movements wild and unrestrained

The bars creaked under his sheer strength, their resistance faltering as if they were on the verge of snapping

His eyes bulged. His face was twisted in rage. His facial muscles contorted so violently that his features were almost unrecognizable. He looked like a demon from hell, sending chills down people’s spines

You wretched woman!Owen roared, his voice hoarse and cracking. I’ll kill you!His madness was feral like a rabid dog unleashed

Agnes watched Owen’s frenzied, almost maniacal expression, and a wave of satisfaction washed over her with an intensity she had never experienced before

She let out a sharp, piercing laugh that intertwined with Owen’s furious shouts, creating an eerie, unsettling symphony. The more unhinged he became, the more unrestrained her laughter grew

Come on, Owen! Kill me if you’ve got the guts Agnes taunted loudly, her voice dripping with mockery and disdain. Regret it now? Too late, you pathetic loser.”

Laughing, she deliberately swayed her body, showing off her triumph in front of him

The commotion quickly drew the attention of the officers. Two officers rushed in, grabbing Owen firmly on either side

But Owen continued to thrash and kick. His body twisted desperately as he tried to break free and lunge at Agnes

Let me go! Let me go!Owen screamed, his voice hoarse and broken. I’ll kill her! I swear I’ll kill her!”

His eyes stayed fixed on Agnes, burning with hatred so fierce that it felt like it could incinerate her right then and there

Watching him being dragged away by the officers, Agnes only smiled wider. She even stuck out her tongue in a mocking gesture and jeered, Take your time regretting. Once I’m out, Ill be off to enjoy my life abroad. You’ll rot in your endless misery.”

Bitch!Owen’s curses echoed down the long corridor as he was hauled out of the detention center, fading into silence until they could no longer be heard

Outside, the night had grown dark. Owen sat slumped in a wheelchair, his spirit utterly broken

The dim streetlights cast a weak glow, falling on his weathered, exhausted face

He was doomed. The successful career he once built was now nothing but a broken dream

The woman he loved most, Camila, had been driven to despair by his own actions and would never forgive him. Now, he had nothingonly a heart heavy with regret and crushing loneliness

Tears welled up in Owen’s eyes, hot and bitter, sliding down his cheeks and soaking into his tattered clothes

Camila, I never meant to hurt you. I just wanted to take care of you,he murmured. But the silent night offered no response. No one was there to hear his belated confession

Warm light spilled through the windows of the Campbell residence, casting a gentle glow over the garden paths and adding a cozy charm to the night

Lindsey looked at Camila with a loving smile. Camila, you’re not feeling well. Go get some rest, okay?she said softly

Camila shook her head lightly. Lindsey, I’ll wait a little longer for Mr. Campbell, she replied

At this, Lindsey’s heart swelled with joy. Her eyes wandered to the ring on Camila’s finger. Her smile grew wider. The wrinkles on her face softened with warmth and happiness

That ring held extraordinary meaning. It was Giovani’s mother’s keepsake. For years, Giovani cherished it deeply. As a child, he wore it on a red string around his neck, and as he grew older, he kept it on his pinky finger, never parting with it

Now, he had given this cherished ring to Camila, a clear sign that he had truly chosen her and wanted to spend his life by

her side

Alright, I’ll head upstairs now. Don’t stay up too late, okay?Lindsey reminded her with a warm smile before leaving

Camila nodded obediently, watching Lindsey head upstairs. She quietly sat on the living room sofa, but her though drifted back to her days with the Jackson family

Back then, whenever she came home from sc! Successfully unlocked! ed in darkness, and the cold silence seemed

to swallow her whole

Standing alone in the darkness, the coldness in her heart spread slowly. The sense of being overlooked by her family and forgotten by the world was a feeling she could never shake

Later, Hazel left a light on for hera faint glow in the darkness that gave her a rare sense of comfort. That small act of

kindness became one of the few sources of warmth she had in the Jackson family

Having experienced the cold indifference of the Jackson family, Camila cherished the warmth at the Campbell residence even more. She wanted to wait for Giovani to return, just as she had once waited for her younger self to come home through the snowstorm at 15

Time ticked by slowly, and the entire Campbell residence was silent, except for the soft ticking of the clock in the living

Feeling tired, Camila lay down on the sofa. Her frail body made her prone to exhaustion, and as sleepiness overtook her she slowly closed her eyes. She curled up into a small ball as if that position brought her a greater sense of security

When Giovani returned, he noticed Camila was asleep, her small frame curled up on the sofa

His gaze swept across the living room. Lindsey and Keira were nowhere to be seen. He thought they must have already retired for the night. She had left the light on deliberately, waiting for him to come home

The icy edge in Giovani’s expression softened ever so slightly when his eyes fell on her. He lightened his steps as he walked over to her

Leaning down, he gently scooped her up, cradling her as if she were something fragile. With long strides, he carried her upstairs, placed her softly on the bed, and pulled the blanket over her. Every movement was careful. He was afraid to disturb her slumber

Sleep well, Camila. Giovani’s voice was low and soft, carrying a tenderness he hadn’t realized. With that, he turned and left the room, closing the door quietly behind him

Giovani didn’t return to the bedroom. Instead, he headed straight to his study. Sitting at the desk, he switched on the lamp. its soft light casting shadows across his sharp features

He began working through the mountain of documents before him. The room was silent except for the scratch of his pen About fifteen minutes later, the sudden ringing of the phone shattered the silence in the study. Hello?Giovani answered

Mr. Campbell, I’ve found Owen.” Turner’s voice came through from the other end of the line

After dropping Giovani off at the Campbell residence, Turner headed home. On the way, he realized he was out of cigarettes and decided to stop by a store to buy some. As he stepped out of the car, a weak groan reached his ears. Following the e sound, he arrived at the entrance of a dimly lit alley. Under the faint glow of a streetlamp, he saw Owen sprawled on the ground, bloodied and barely conscious. His appearance was utterly wretched

Earlier that day, Owen had hurled cruel words at Camila in the hospital. Sean had already relayed the words to Giovani. Turnier, who had been with Giovani, was well aware of the situation

Now, seeing Owen beaten up, Turner immediately called Giovani, knowing this required his boss’s decision

The memory of Owen’s insults to Camila flashed through Giovani’s mind. He said coldly, Send him to the hospital. Keep him alive, but make sure he suffers.”

Turner froze for a moment, his heart skipping a beat. After hesitating briefly, he asked, Mr. Campbell, do you mean to leave him barely alive?”

Giovani’s lips curled into a cold, cruel smile. Since his legs are useless now, there’s no need to keep them. Just amputate

them.”

A chill ran down Turner’s spine, making his legs weak and his head numb

Owen’s legs had been broken, but with proper care, they could still recover. But now, someone had beaten him so badly that he was barely hanging on to life. If he were left lying in that alley overnight, he might not survive

After hanging up, Turner carried out Giovani’s orders, ensuring Owen was rushed to the hospital

Meanwhile, the woman who had nearly left Owen dead calmly peeled off her bloodstained clothes and gloves, her movements slow and deliberate

She then flicked open a lighter, and flames erupted, quickly consuming the clothes and gloves. The firelight flickered across her face, casting shifting shadows that made her expression impossible to read
