Chapter 7
I turned to find Ethan Gray standing next to me.
He looked at my forehead, sighed helplessly, and guided me into his car before going to a nearby pharmacy to buy iodine and bandages.
While Ethan was treating my wound, Tyler called again.
“Aren’t you going to answer?” he asked.
I shook my head and smiled bitterly:
“What’s the point? So, can he lie to me again? I’m exhausted. Besides, tonight… he’s probably busy taking care of Olivia and their baby.”
Ethan said nothing more and quietly treated my wound.
I had first met Ethan at the escape room that day. He was also a friend of Tyler’s.
While others gathered around the monitor to watch the scene, he sat quietly on the sofa, not joining them in mocking me.
After Tyler and Olivia left, he hadn’t left either but approached me, looking with disgust at Olivia’s lace underwear and money on the floor:
“Don’t stand near that filth. He doesn’t deserve you.”
I asked Ethan if he had recognized me that day.
Ethan just smiled and said:
“I dropped Tyler off at home a few times and saw you from a distance.”
See? He had only seen me a few times but could recognize me. Yet Tyler and I had been together for five years, and he couldn’t recognize me.
I exchanged the check for cash with Ethan’s help, taking only the portion I had given Tyler over the five years. I asked him to return the rest to Tyler.
He’d deceived me for five years. Taking back my own money seemed fair. We’d be even.
I bought a plane ticket leaving that night, and Ethan drove me to the airport.
Before leaving, he asked:
“You’re not taking anything with you?”
I looked around our tiny, rented apartment where we’d lived for five years. Every item held memories of Tyler and

- me.
“No, it’s better to make a clean break.”
Tyler’s calls and messages flooded in like a tide, but I didn’t look at them. Instead, I blocked him on all platforms and headed straight for the airport.
Meanwhile, at the Hayes mansion, Tyler impatiently listened to the private doctor’s report.
Olivia was fine. Of course, she wasn’t pregnant either–her missed period was just due to hormonal imbalance.
After the doctor left, Tyler tried to message me again, only to discover I had blocked him on all social media apps. His calls went straight to busy tones.
Tyler’s face darkened. He thought about my final message over and over again and couldn’t understand how I knew about the engagement.
Finally, his patience snapped, and then he stood to leave.
But just as he reached the door, Ethan blocked his path.
“Don’t bother looking for Emma Star. She’s left the city and doesn’t want to see you anymore.”
Tyler frowned:
“What do you mean? How would I not know if my girlfriend left? What gives you the right to say she doesn’t want to
see me?”
Ethan shrugged:
“Of course I know, because it was I who drove her to the airport. While you were busy accompanying your princess,
she was already gone.”
“Tyler Hayes, you don’t deserve Emma Star.”
Tyler angrily retorted:
“What nonsense are you talking about?! Emma is my woman. How dare you send her away without my permission?!”
Ethan laughed coldly and threw a suitcase at his feet.
The suitcase wasn’t properly closed, and stacks of money spilled out:
“Your woman? Emma Star is your woman, and Olivia Parker is also your woman? Tyler, you’re quite greedy.”
“Why do you think–Emma wouldn’t leave you? She’s a people, not some object for you to possess! People have feelings and get hurt. The very moment you threw Olivia’s underwear, that dirty money, and that check right in her face, she ceased to be your woman! How could you be so blind and cruel?!”

“Emma asked me to tell you that you deceived her for five years. She’s only taking back her own money. From now on, you owe each other nothing and need never meet again.”
Tyler stared in disbelief, realizing that the NPC in the escape room that day had been me.
“That’s Emma…”
Tyler murmured in a voice so low that he could barely hear it himself.
“So… what happened between me and Olivia…”
“She saw it all…”
