CHAPTER 18
**ARABELLA POV**
As soon as I returned to my room and closed the door, I stoked the fireplace to ensure it wouldn’t go out. I stood there, staring at the flames for a minute before the voices in my head
erupted again.
“Can we go out tonight? Please?” Meadow pleaded.
“Yeah, why the hell not?” I replied.
“Yes, let’s do it!” she said excitedly.
I walked over to my door and placed my hand over the doorknob. Suddenly, a golden glow
appeared beneath my hand as I locked the door, sealing it tight so that no one would be able
to break in.
Next, I moved to the center of the room and ran my hand over my body, changing my clothes
into black leather pants, boots, and a black hoodie. I made sure to cover all of my hair–the
blonde would give me away in an instant. I needed to avoid raising any suspicion that I was
the person they were looking for.
With my disguise in place, I closed my eyes, and Meadow was buzzing with excitement as we
teleported from my bedroom to a pack several hours away from Landon’s territory.
I found myself standing in a dark, quiet street in the middle of a wolf pack when I suddenly
heard a woman screaming a couple of streets away.
I sprinted toward the sound and arrived just in time to see her being attacked by a couple of
men. They were tearing at her clothes and had her cornered against a wall, leaving her with no
escape.
They stank of alcohol and I ran up behind them, graabbing one of them by the back of his shirt
and I threw him across the alley, causing him to crash into the brick wall on the other side of
the alley.
The second guy turned to look at me and as he started charged at me I faced him side on so I
could kick him in the face and then I kneed him in the stomach.
My hands started glowing again as I picked him up, my powers were helping with my strength,
as I threw him into his friend just as his friend was starting to charge at me.
The woman had fallen to the ground, crying and trying to hold her clothing together. They were

attempting to assault her before I arrived, so I turned back to the men who were slowly getting
to their feet again.
I grabbed the first one by the shirt and I extended my claws and I stabbed him in the stomach
with them and at the same time I slashed the other one across the throat with my claws.
What Vincent didn’t know about those pills was that I had become immune to the wolfsbane
in them. In fact, the wolfsbane actually aided me in combat. The poison manifested in my
claws and canines, making it especially harmful to anyone I faced in a fight.
That was the only reason I continued taking them–they gave me an advantage, even though
Vincent believed they were keeping me weak and suppressing my wolf. He knew that she
would be out for blood if she was let out. And he would be the first one she’d go after.
It didn’t work like that for me since I wasn’t a full werewolf. I stood over the two men as they
clutched their wounds, but before they could get help, I finished them off.
I turned my head slightly and saw a woman sitting nearby. She was hiding her face, clearly
scared, and didn’t seem to be moving but seemed to be okay on the surface.
I quickly ran out of the alley, making sure no one saw me, and returned to the same spot
where I had teleported. I closed my eyes and teleported back to my bedroom.
As soon as I got back to my room, I changed back into my original clothes and unlocked my
door.
“Wow, that was a rush!” Meadow exclaimed excitedly in my head.
“Yeah, it’s been a while, I replied.
“What do you think Landon will do when he finds out you’re the savior?” she asked.
“I don’t know if he will find out. We’ll have to wait and see how things turn out here first,” I said.
“Arabella, you know that everything is happening like this because of the pills,” she replied.
“I’m aware, but if I stop taking them, I’ll lose my advantage,” I responded.
“If
you stop taking them, you will also gain a lot of advantages,” she insisted.
“I don’t think I’m ready for that just yet,” I said.
“Alright. Well, you know I’ll be here for you when you are,” she assured me.
“I know,” I replied.
When I eventually went to bed, I only managed a couple of hours of sleep before Mara came to

my room to wake me up.
“I’m sorry, Arabella. Landon is insisting that you come to the dining hall this morning,” she
said as I sat up in bed.

I simply nodded at her before getting up and heading to the wardrobe. I dressed in my usual
baggy clothes and made my way down to the dining room, where I had to sit at the head table.
To avoid conversation, I brought a book with me.
As soon as I sat down, Landon was across the table, staring at me, but I ignored him. I didn’t
glance at Kai either. Hayden, however, sat next to me and placed a plate of food in front of me.
I gave him a half–hearted smile and began picking at my food while reading my book.
I soon heard a familiar shrill voice approaching our table. When I looked up, I saw Addy,
Hayden’s sister, walking around the table. She kissed Landon before sitting down right next to
him, then proceeded to try and feed him as if he were the love of her life.
I returned my gaze to my book.
“Addy, what the f**k are you doing here?” Hayden asked.
“Landon called me last night. He wanted me to come over,” Addy replied.
“Right. Just to get back at me for fighting you, right?” Hayden shot back.
“I was just lonely,” Landon said.
I felt Hayden looking at me, but I kept my head buried in my book, not caring about their
conversation. But things got worse when Harper showed up. She started verbally attacking
her brother, prompting him to threaten her to shut up. She then sat on the other side of me,
and I guess that was their way of demonstrating whose side they were on.
I never asked them to fight their Alpha for me. Right now, I just wanted to be left alone. But I knew that wasn’t going to happen. Harper wasn’t going to let me wallow like this.
“Alpha,” Kai said as he got off the phone.
“What?” Landon asked.
“The savior struck again,” Kai replied.
“Where?” Landon inquired.
“At the Silverclaw pack,” Kai explained.
“That’s hours away from here. This guy really gets around. What happened?” Landon asked.

“The same as last time. A couple of guys were attacking a woman, and the savior showed up
and killed them,” Kai continued.
“Alright. I want to contact their Alpha and see if that woman can tell me anything,” Landon said, getting up from the table. He rushed out of the room with Kai, but Hayden stayed behind to finish his breakfast. He was making a point to Landon by lingering in the dining hall. After he ate quickly, he headed to the office where Landon was. It involved the pack, so he had to be
there.
“I guess it was just good luck that I was available last night. I’m so glad Landon finally saw
sense,” Addy remarked.
“Shut the f**k up, Addy. No one cares what you have to say,” Harper shot back.
“Oh, of course not. I wouldn’t want to upset your new best friend, especially since her husband
prefers me instead of her,” Addy retorted.
But since I was supposedly a wolfless human, I couldn’t let Addy know that she hadn’t
showered this morning. I could tell she didn’t smell like she’d been having s*x. She was just
saying all of this to provoke us.
I didn’t know what happened between her and Landon, but it was clear they hadn’t hooked up
last night.
