Chapter 23
Then let’s just wait and see. Celeste replied.
It wouldn’t be long before they’d know who would dig their grave.
After saying this, Celeste walked toward her hospital, aware of Isolde’s eyes on her. As she moved her gaze landed on a trash can nearby. sparking an idea
Picking it up, Celeste waited for Isolde to head to her car. Then, without hesitation, she plopped the trash can over Isolde’s head and Launched into an attack.
ich! To keep holde from recognizing her. Celeste altered her voice with a bit of mimicry, adopting a rough tone. “Bitch I’ve had it up to here with you! Strutting around just because you’re the Huxley family’s adopted kid, acting so high and mighty”
Im going to kick your ass!”
Then Isolde collapsed to the ground, tangled up with the grimy trash can. Celeste took advantage of the moment, landing several swift kicks before retreating to the hospital, satisfied
Celeste wasn’t done yet. To cover her tracks, she hacked into the hospital’s surveillance system, erasing all footage of the day’s events.
When Isolde finally pulled herself out of the trash can, her face was bruised, and her hair was littered with garbage. Furious, she looked around. “Who hit me? Who did this to me?”
But there was no response. Isolde clenched her fists, gritting her teeth. Whoever attacks me will pay dearly once I find them, she s herself.

Feeling quite pleased after putting Isolde in her place. Celeste returned to Marcus‘ room. Before she even entered, she could hear him coughing
Her expression softened, and Celeste headed to Wesley’s lab quickly. Spotting some herbs, she began extracting them, preparing to make throat lozenges
When Wesley entered the
the lab, he was surprised to see Celeste busy with a mask on. He stared at her for a moment, uncertain,
“Celeste! Is that you?” Wesley asked.
Celeste gave a calm nod, and Wesley, still intrigued, moved closer to look at her. “Teacher, you never take off your mask. What’s the occasion today?”
Just going to see Marcus Celeste thought but didn’t say. Adjusting her mask slightly, she replied. “I may not have my mask, but I’ve got
the face maSK ONL
The mask exposed Celeste’s features from the eyes up, hinting at her beauty underneath. Wesley didn’t press further, merely asking. “Teacher, what are you working on this time?”
Throat lozenges, Celeste answered.
“Huh? Does she really need a special blend for that? Wesley wondered and said, “Hospital’s got every kind of throat lozenge.”
“I know” Celeste replied, unfazed. But she felt those over–the–counter ones weren’t effective enough, so she wanted to create her own. Wesley wanted to speak, but he swallowed the words. He thought, “Teacher doesn’t buy throat lozenges from hospitals and prefers to make them himself, there must be a reason for that
I shouldn’t ask too many questions and risk anaking her unhappy
Then Wesley offered, “Anything I can help with, teacher?”
“No, thank you” Celeste continued with her work. An hour later, she t finished, packaging the lozenges into a small box.
Satisfied, Celeste tucked the box away and made her way back to Marcus‘ room. Wesley watched her, who came quickly and left just as fast. Without saying anything, he started to busy himself with his own matters.

When she returned. Marcus was still coughing. Seeing this, Celeste handed him the lozenges.
Marcus raised an eyebrow, asking, “What’s this?”
Throat lozenges Celeste replied.
Marcus. “You carry these around?”
Celeste nodded, opening the box for him. Then Marcus took one, popped it in his mouth, and tasted a bit of bitterness, but soon felt his throat soothing. The irritation and soreness faded away.
“Not bad. These are better than the usual ones. Marcus complimented.
“If you like them, you can keep the whole bos, Celeste said with a faint smile.
Marcus was never one to take favors for free. He continued, “How much?”
“They’re on the house, Celeste replied.
I don’t take freebies, Marcus stated. “If you won’t take e payment, then I won’t take the lozenges.”
The materials were all from Wesley, so Celeste hadn’t spent a penny. Even if he insisted on paying, she wouldn’t charge much. “Seven dollars will do,” she said.
“Only seven?” Marcus raised an eyebrow, eyeing the small box.” “This box alone is worth more than that. Are you sure it’s just seven
The box was something Celeste bought for storing different herbal pills, it cost a few bucks. She explained. The lozenges are seven dollars. And the box is mine, so no extra charging.
Marcus didn’t argue further, grabbing his phone. He added her number in PayPal and sent
her seventy
dollars.
Celeste opened her app, saw the amount, and asked, puzzled, “Didn’t I say seven dollars? Why’d you send seventy?”
“Because I think they’re worth seventy, so that’s what I sent, Marcus said simply.
With that, Marcus packed away the lozenges and resumed working on his laptop.
Standing nearby, Celeste reached out to check his forehead instinctively, making Marcus pause and look at her in surprise.
“What what are you doing?” Marcus asked in disbelief.
*Checking your temperature to see if you’re still feverish,” Celeste replied.
After testing his forehead against her own, Celeste added, “You’re normal again. Keep working, and I’ll be nearby. Just call if you need
Marcus nodded and returned to his work
