“Do you know how I found out?”
Ethan gently caressed my chin, talking to himself.
“Because your caring façade was too fake. In your eyes when you looked at me, there was only hatred…”
So he had discovered my abnormal behavior early on.
He had the housekeeper switch the drugged milk, then coldly watched my clumsy performance.
Seeing no hope of escape, I dropped the pretense.
“Then just kill me. I’d rather smash my head against a wall than stay with you.”
“You’re my most beloved woman. How could I let you die? It’s just that… others deserve death…”
His sinister words made my blood run cold.
A week after Riley went missing, I finally received news of him.
In the coffee shop, he looked like a stray dog, staring vacantly into sky.
The messy hair covered his eyes, unshaven stubble on his chin, clothes wrinkled against his body.
Upon seeing me, he immediately fell to his knees.
“Olivia, I beg you! Save Isabella! Although we wronged you in the past, please, for the help I tried to give you, ask Ethan to release her. I’ll take all the responsibility.”
From his incoherent account, I.pieced together the whole picture-

For an entire week, Riley had mobilized all his connections, searched the entire city, and still found nothing.
Looking at his bowed head, I laughed hysterically.
“A bastard’s sincerity? I never imagined…”
“What about when I surrendered myself to Ethan for your sake? Where was your conscience then? Gone to the dogs?”
“I don’t just hope she’s not saved–I hope all three of you die!”
I picked up the cold coffee and poured it straight over Riley.
The brown liquid spread across his white shirt, like my stained life.
In front of the old apartment block, Riley kicked at pebbles, waiting for me to return home.
The moment I saw him, the light rekindled in my eyes.
Even the tearing pain in my body lessened.
I ran to him, blushing as I asked what brought him here.
“I saw you enter that cheap motel with Ethan… Didn’t you say you liked me? Then you go and sleep with someone else?”
His disgusted expression paired with blunt words left me mortified.
The next moment, Riley’s thin lips parted, uttering words I’d never forget.
“Since you’ll sleep with anyone… why not sleep with me? I’ll protect you.‘
If Ethan had created an abyss for me, then Riley was the hand that pushed me into it…

I grew depressed, unwilling to go out or speak to anyone.
Ethan tried everything to cheer me up.
One sunny afternoon, he mysteriously said he wanted to take me for an outing.
The car stopped in front of a dilapidated warehouse.
Intermittent screams from a woman came from inside.
Then I saw Isabella, tied to a chair, covered in wounds.
Her once arrogant demeanor had transformed into pitiful begging.

I took a step forward, then stopped and turned to mock Ethan.
“Will you accompany her in death? After all, she’s just an accomplice. The real culprit–is you!”
Ethan didn’t defend himself. He just gripped my knife–wielding hand and suddenly plunged it into his own chest.
The blood gushed out, instantly dyeing the floor red.
“Are you a little happier now? Olivia.” He struggled to lift the corners of his pale lips.
