Chapter 13
Liam, where are you? And what happened to your mom?” Liam’s heart sank.
“I’m at grandma’s house, and she’s hitting mom really hard. I don’t know what to do… Dad, come quickly and save her…”
Although Nathan didn’t know what had happened, hearing Liam’s crying and knowing Stella wasn’t by his side, something serious must have occurred. He could only try to comfort his son in a low voice.
“Son, stay quiet and don’t cry. I’ll be there as fast as I can.”
Nathan reassured him before hanging up and driving quickly to the Cassano family house. He hadn’t been there in four years.
When he arrived, the maid opened the door. He entered and found forge sipping tea and reading a newspaper peacefully.
Suddenly startled, Jorge looked up at Nathan. Immediately, he tossed the newspaper aside and put on a friendly smile.
“Nathan, you’ve come? We thought you wouldn’t visit. You could have called to let us know you were coming.
“Where is Stella?” Nathan’s cold gaze fixed on him, and Jorge’s face changed at the question.
“She’s upstairs. She…”
Liam, hearing his father’s voice, ran downstairs.
“Dad…”
Nathan knelt to hold him, noticing his son’s swollen, tear–streaked face. Gently, he wiped it clean.
“I’m here now. You don’t need to cry anymore.”
“Dad, you have to save Mom…”
“Qkay, show me where she is.”
Nathan carried Liam upstairs. The boy pointed to one of the rooms where faint, distinct sounds could be heard. Nathan tried the doorknob, but it was locked from the inside.
“Stella…” Nathan banged on the door, but there was no response. Behind him, Jorge stood with an awkward expression.
“Nathan, there’s no need to worry. That’s Fernanda and my room. They’re inside, having a private conversation–women’s matters, you know?”
Women’s matters? Could a normal conversation make Liam cry like this?
“Just open the door!” Nathan’s cold eyes bore into him.
“Nathan…” Jorge hesitated, knowing what was happening inside. He desperately wanted to avoid letting Nathan see, as it would be
unfavorable for him.
“Are you opening it, or should I break it down?”
Nathan posed the final question, handed Liam to the maid beside him, and kicked the door with force. It didn’t break, so he prepared to kick again when Jorge stepped in front of him.

Chapter 13
“Nathan, calm down. I’ll open the door!” Jorge said, pulling a key from his pocket.
When the door swung open, Näthan caught a glimpse of Stella kneeling on the floor and Fernanda holding a rod.
If he hadn’t seen it with his own eyes, Nathan wouldn’t have believed something like this could happen.
Fernanda gripped the rod tightly, striking her daughter as if punishing an enemy. A woman like this didn’t resemble a mother.
“Mom… No…” Liam’s scream interrupted Nathan’s thoughts. He rushed to Fernanda, pushing her onto the bed. The next second, he was by Stella’s side, who could barely speak.
“Stella, how are you?”
Her pale face, disheveled hair, and white lips showed she could barely answer. This sight enraged Fernanda, who got up from the bed and tried to strike her again. Nathan turned and blocked the blow.
Seeing this, Jorge quickly grabbed Fernanda to restrain her. As Fernanda realized the situation, Jorge embraced her immediately.
“Darling, they’re trying to tear us apart. They’re all bad people.”
“Fernanda, my love, no one can separate us,” Jorge said softly, then turned to the maid. “Take my wife to rest!”
Stella’s strength was gone. When she tried to stand, she almost collapsed, but Nathan reached out to steady her.
Jorge noticed this too and tried to help, but Nathan shot him a cold glare.
“Keep your hands off her!”
Nathan lifted Stella from the floor and carried her, with Liam following in the maid’s arms.
Jorge ran after them, watching as Nathan carefully laid Stella in the backseat of his car.
Nathan ignored him, took Liam from the maid, and placed him in the backseat too. Then he got into the driver’s seat and drove off
Due to her injured back, Stella couldn’t lean against the seat. She lay on her stomach, overwhelmed with pain, her mind hazy.
A pair of small, soft hands grabbed hers. Liam, with tearful eyes, looked at her.
“Mom, are you okay?”
Stella lacked the strength to reply, and Nathan noticed this, trying to calm his son.
“Liam, we’re going to the hospital now. Don’t worry. Your mom will be fine.”
Liam sat back in his seat and nodded silently.
Before entering the hospital, Nathan removed his jacket, wrapped it around Stella’s back, and carried her to the emergency room, with Liam close behind.
Nathan frequently glanced back to ensure Liam was keeping up.
“Dad, don’t worry. I’m right behind you!” Liam said with determination.
Finally, Stella was taken to the emergency room, While her external injuries were serious, they could have been worse if she hadn’t been wearing warm clothing.

Chapter 13
Father and son waited outside
“Liam, come here,” Nathan called, Liam, who hadn’t taken his eyes of the emergency room door, hesitated before slowly approaching.
“Dad.”
Nathan led him to a chair in front of the surgery room.
“Your mom will be okay.”
Liam nodded, his big eyes staring at Nathan. He noticed how much am’s eyes resembled Stella’s.
It was getting late, and Liam needed rest. It wasn’t ideal for him to stay, so Nathan called home for a driver to take Liam. Initially, Liam resisted, but Nathan convinced him they’d return the next day to see his mom.
Shortly after Liam left, the emergency room doors opened. Stella was transferred to a hospital room. Her injuries, though external, were severe. She remained unconscious, her delicate brows furrowed as if in a bad dream.
