Ever since college, she and Vivian had been friends. Being alone in NY, Emma had treasured this friendship deeply. Even after falling for Marcus and being repeatedly rejected, she never wanted to strain her relationship with Vivian over a man.[].
But what about Vivian? She’d used Emma as a cover for their forbidden love, deliberately pushing her toward Marcus who didn’t love her, subjecting Emma to constant suffering.
All those “accidental” moments of flaunting their bond–they were calculated, deliberate acts meant to hurt her.
Emma used to think Vivian was just spoiled, but now, having escaped that toxic environment, she realized everything had been a calculated scheme targeting her alone.
She replied coldly.
“From the day I left, Vivian and I stopped being friends.”
These words provoked Marcus, and his tone grew heated.[]
Vivian considers you her best friend! She thinks about you constantly. Even after you left, she worried about you daily, even asking me to come find you! Emma, is this how you treat her?“]
Faced with Marcus’s accusation, Emma remained unmoved, but her words cut deep.
“If she truly considered me a friend, she wouldn’t have failed to visit me even once after I donated bone marrow to her, nor would she have stayed away all this time since I left. She only used me as an object to showcase your love.“[]
Thinking of the past, her lips curled into a cold smile.

“Don’t come looking for me anymore, Marcus. We have no relationship now.”
With that, she stepped around him and entered the Watson mansion.[]
Marcus couldn’t stop her in time and could only grab the man who was following her inside.[]
“Who’re you! Did you seduce Emma? She was never like this before. What right do you have to enter the Watson home?”
The man smiled but before he could speak, the butler’s voice interrupted.

“Young Master, what dishes would you like prepared for you and Miss Watson tonight?”
James Watson smiled, shocking Marcus, who had never heard that the Watson family had a son.
While Marcus was processing this, James leaned in.[]
“I’m adopted by the Watson family, though it was never made public. Originally, after my sister married you, the Watson family planned to let me inherit the business and were going to announce my identity. But now that my sister has divorced you… Marcus, guess which I want more–the Watson family business or my sister?”
Initially, seeing their intimacy, Marcus had felt something was off. Now, learning about their relationship and hearing James’s words, Marcus immediately understood his intentions—he was in love with his own sister!
Marcus frowned instinctively and rebuked him. “You’re actually in love with your sister? Does the Watson family know? This would never be allowed!“[]
Hearing this, James raised an eyebrow. “Yet you love your own sister? Is it acceptable for you to love your sister but not for me to love mine? Since she’s already divorced you, it has nothing to do with you anymore. Just worry about your own sister.”
With that, he turned to enter the Watson mansion. Marcus desperately tried to grab him but failed, forced to watch helplessly as James walked intimately toward Emma, joining her at the table. The next moment, even the door closed in his face.
Watching Emma’s figure slowly disappear from view, Marcus struggled to describe the feeling in his heart–it was as if he couldn’t breathe.
He never imagined another man would appear in Emma’s life, much less one so brazenly declaring his intention to take her away.
He angrily pounded on the door but received no response.
A sharp, needle–like pain spread through his chest. Why did seeing Emma with someone else hurt so much? She was just a tool to him–without Vivian, he wouldn’t have given Emma a second glance!
No matter how he tried to convince himself, a suffocating pressure remained in his heart, enveloping him completely.[]
