A second chance for the CEO
Chapter 49
Stella also didn’t know how long it had been before she fell asleep, e only felt that she dreamt of Liam, and, in her dream, it was full of their memories together since his birth for three years.
Liam’s arrival in her life had given her three years of wonderful, unforgettable moments.
When he began to disappear in her dream, she reached out to catch im and hugged him. But no matter what she did, she couldn’t touch him, she could only look with her own eyes at his gradual disappearance.
No matter how loudly she shouted, he didn’t come back.
“Liam!” – Stella shouted, waking up from her dream.
She didn’t care where she was either; she just opened the blanket and got out of bed. But a large hand stopped her shoulder, preventing her from moving.
She raised her head and stared into Nathan’s handsome face, overcome with emotion.
“Let me go, Nathan!”
“You need to rest.”
“I don’t need to rest, I need to stay by Liam’s side.” – She pushed his hand away and hurriedly put on her boots and jacket.
Almost a few steps in, she began to feel dizzy. She stopped for a moment and put her hand to her head.
Nathan went over to her, didn’t mind her resistance and carried her back to bed. When she tried to get up, he tried to stop her.
“Get some rest.”
Stella was really worried about Liam. How could he rest even for a moment?
“I want to look at Liam…”
“The doctor is looking after him. What can you do if you go there now?”
“I still want to be by his side.”
Nathan’s face turned grim, and he held her chin with one hand.
“Do you know what your condition is now? The doctor says you haven’t had enough rest and you’re malnourished. You don’t even have the energy to stand up. Why do you say you want to stay by his side? Even if you’re in front of the surgery door, what can you do? Will Liam wake up immediately?”
Stella broke free of his grip.
“Nathan, let me go!” – she stared at him with her red, swollen eyes. “What right do you have to say that to me? Yes, I can’t do anything by standing in front of that door, but I still want to go. I want to be as close to him as possible. If I stay here, then what am 1? I’m Liam’s mer. If I’m not by his side, then who is? You, Nathan?”
Because she was malnourished and exhausted both mentally and physically, she could faint at any moment. The doctor had given her an injection of nutrition, but due to the movements and the struggle, she began to hurt herself.
She didn’t even frown. Finally she pushed Nathan away, wiped her eyes with her hand and looked at him again.

Chapter 49
“You will never understand the significance of Liam in my life. He is my life, but, Nathan, what is he to you? Do you love him sincerely? You’ve been abroad Tor four years. Did you ever think about your son? Even though he hates me, detests me and thinks I’m treacherous, Liam is innocent. All this time, he’s been your son. But in all those years, not even when you came back did you ask questions about him.
“Everyone thinks Liam is strong, they think I’m enough for him. However, as strong as he is, he’s only three. He also hoped to have a father by his side. He wanted to play together, play ball together. But back then, where were you?”
Stella choked on her emotion and continued.
“Liam is very good. He never asked me where his father was. But his ack of questions doesn’t mean he doesn’t care. Every time he’s on the side of the road or in kindergarten, seeing that every child has their father to accompany them, he feels envious… very envious.
“Nathan, if Liam hadn’t gotten sick, I’m afraid you’d never come back in this life, right? For you, he never had a place in your heart. Even if another woman came along, you’d be able to blackmail me and use your own son to force me. So…” – she took a deep breath and smiled coldly“…you have neither the right nor the qualification to say that to me.”
Stella finished, turned to leave the room and walked towards the waiting room.
Nathan just stood there, watching her figure gradually disappear. At first he wanted to reach out to stop her, but his hand was stiff.
Stella’s words were like sharp knives driven into his heart, to the point where every breath he took was painful.
Yes, perhaps her words were true. He really didn’t deserve to be Liam’s father.
After almost a whole day in intensive care, Liam was finally taken to his room, and the sky was beginning to lighten.
Everyone was there and waiting worriedly outside. The doctor’s face, in the end, seemed full of satisfaction.
Everyone gathered around him, and he smiled slightly.
“His condition is stable now, but I hope you can focus more on his condition. Don’t let his mood get bad again.”
“We all understand. Thank you very much, doctor!” – Anna said.
Knowing that Liam’s condition was stable and that he could regain consciousness, everyone’s worried hearts could finally be reassured.
