A second chance for the CEO
Chapter 44
Carla looked at her with emotida, clearly worried, and continuously patted her shoulder.
“Olivia, calm down. You’ve just undergone surgery, just returned from the brink of death. Don’t get like this–don’t neglect gir health.”
“Stella, that wild woman–she used her child to hurt mine.”
“Olivia, don’t worry. Nathan won’t let her get away with it; he will avenge you…”
Olivia wiped her tears with her hand. For the first time, she took a proper look around. Except for Carla, the room was empty.
“Where is Nathan?” she asked in panic. After losing her child, shouldn’t he be by her side? But where was he?
“Olivia, don’t worry. Nathan had some matters to attend to but will be back soon.” Carla avoided mentioning that Nathan was searching for Stella, fearing it would intensify Olivia’s emotions.
“Auntie you’re lying to me. He went to find Stella, didn’t he?” Olivia said, her emotions flaring.
“No, truly not…” Carla gestured for the hospital nurse to watch Olivia, concerned that any movement might affect her surgical wounds. She stepped out to call Nathan, urging him to come quickly.
Olivia’s mood couldn’t be calmed by anyone but Nathan.
After the call, it didn’t take long for Nathan to arrive at the hospital. Upon seeing him, Olivia immediately began to cry and complain.
She sat on the hospital bed while Nathan stood beside her. She hugged his waist, inhaling the faint scent of his shampoo and body wash. Her eyes darkened.
Had he gone to the Collins‘ house before coming here? Had he been with Stella? The thought made her even more insecure.
“Nathan, our child is gone…” Olivia’s long hair fell over her shoulder. Her pale face and lips evoked pity.
“I wanted to surprise you by telling you about the pregnancy, but I’m sorry… I didn’t even get to say it. Our child is gone. It’s my fault–I couldn’t protect him. I shouldn’t have gone after Stella. I couldn’t control myself…”
“Olivia, how could you be so naïve? You should have gone to Nathan the moment you returned. What were you thinking, going to her? And why would you tell her about your pregnancy?” Carla scolded.
Tears streamed down Olivia’s face as she nodded, resentment filling her eyes.
She had it known she was pregnant. How could Stella have known?
But Nathan was clever. He would soon figure it out. So Olivia crafted her story, claiming she accidentally revealed her pregnancy, cementing Stella as the one who pushed her.”
Olivia was undeniably calculating and sharp, ensuring that her narrative painted Stella as guilty. Even if Stella hadn’t pushed her directly, in Olivia’ses, there was no difference.
Liam’s sudden appearance had caught her off guard, and in her heart she blamed Stella for her son’s death.
“Olivia, how could you be so careless? You know what kind of woman Stella is! After what she did four years ago, you should have stayed far away!” Carla said sadly.

“I didn’t know…” Olivia wept, Elutching Nathan’s arm tightly. “I’m sorry, Nathan. It’s all my fault. If not for me, our child…”
Nathan’s mind raced with thoughts.
Was it really Stella who pushed Olivia?
Was there a hidden reason? Or was it just an accident?
But looking at Olivia’s constant tears, he felt it unlikely she would hurt herself on purpose.
Moreover, at that moment, the only person there had been stella.
“It’s okay. Don’t cry anymore.” Nathan grabbed a tissue from the bedside table and wiped her tears. “You’ve just regained consciousness. Crying isn’t good for you. Losing the baby wasn’t your fault–don’t blame yourself…”
“It’s Stella’s fault,” Carla interjected bitterly. She looked at Olivia, heartbroken, and spat Stella’s name with hatred.
How could that woman be so cruel?
After Olivia finally calmed down and fell asleep, Carla approached Nathan, signaling him to step outside.
“What are you going to do about this?” she asked impatiently. Nathan, hands in his pockets, didn’t respond. “You’re not still going to protect Stella, are you? She’s clearly responsible for this. She made Olivia lose her child! And Olivia nearly bled to death!”
Before she could finish, Nathan gave her a cold look.
“Mother, what do you want me to do? Have someone attack Stella? Push her off a building?”
Carla was momentarily stunned.
“She must be held accountable for what she’s done! Don’t tell me this will just blow over! Olivia and the baby deserve justice…”
Nathan’s patience wore thin. Perhaps due to sleeplessness, his temples throbbed. He rubbed them with his fingers.
“I’ll handle this myself.” With that, he turned and walked away. Carla, however, was still seething.
“You always say you’ll handle it, but when it’s Stella, you never do!”
Nathan paused briefly but kept walking.
Meanwhile, Stella had only managed to sleep for 2-3 hours before waking. She went to Liam’s room, finding him in a somber mood -likely due to the events of the previous day.
As Stell helped him dress, he looked up at her.
“Mommy, has Daddy come back yet?”
Startled, Stella forced a smile.
“Not yet. He’s busy Why?”
“Who was the lady we met yesterday? Is she okay?” Liam stood on the bed, his small body leaning forward to hug her neck, resting his head on her shoulder. “She didn’t die, did she?”
“Liam, you’re overthinking it. How could she die? She’s fine, so don’t worry, okay?” Stella gently patted his back.

“Okay.” Liam nodded.
As she finished dressing him, he seemed deep in thought again.
“Mommy, who is that lady? What’s her relationship with Daddy? Why does he care so much about her?”
