Chapter 47
”
Liam, open the door, please?”
Anna also climbed the stairs with Filippo’s help and support.
What happened? Didn’t Liam want to open the door?
Stella shook her head.
“He locked himself in there.”
“Don’t worry, we have spare keys in this house.” Filippo frowned and said.
Anna immediately instructed the butler to fetch Liam’s room’s spare key and handed it to Stella. Everyone waited outside, feeling
anxious.
Stella used the spare key to unlock the door. She looked at his small figure sitting on the wool rug. She couldn’t tell what he was thinking, but his appearance truly made people feel sad.
Grandma, let me talk to him first. You and Dad go downstairs and wait, okay?”
She knew Anna and Filippo were worried too, but perhaps at this moment, Liam didn’t want too many people around. Anna understood this and agreed, walking down the stairs with Filippo.
Stella entered the room and closed the door. She took a deep breath and stepped toward him.
“Liam, why did you lock the door? Don’t you know we’re worried about you?” She knelt in front of Liam and gently stroked his
head.
She wanted to change the subject so he wouldn’t dwell on it, but it was clear she couldn’t.
Liam slowly raised his small face and looked at Stella.
“Mom, that woman from the other day isn’t Dad’s friend, right?”
Stella froze for a moment.
“Liam…”
Liam’s face was filled with loneliness.
“In the past, Dad didn’t come home because he was busy. But actually, it’s because of that woman, isn’t it?”
Liam’s clever thinking made people admire him; many things could be understood easily just by him reasoning through them.
In the past, he hadn’t known Olivia existed, but today, after hearing the argument, he understood what had truly happened.
Stella wiped her eyes with her hand and sat next to him.
Liam, you’re still young. The things between adults aren’t really what you’re imagining. You just need to remember that we all truly love and care for you, okay?”
And Dad? Does Dad care about me too?”

Liam’s words pierced Stella’s Heart, leaving her struggling to breathe She stared at his little face, not knowing how to explain clearly to such a young child.
She wanted to answer, “He care but she couldn’t lie. However, if she said, ‘He doesn’t care, Liam would be deeply disappointed,
Unsure of how to handle the situation, she looked up, and Liam continued.
“Dad cares about that woman, doesn’t he?”
“Liam…”
Liam stood up from the wool rug and placed his small hand on Stella’s shoulder.
“Mom, I heard everything you said…”
Stella tried to hold back her tears, but her eyes kept filling up until they spilled over.
Liam, I’m sorry…”
She felt selfish for deciding to bring him into the world but not giving him a perfectly healthy body. She thought her love would be enough, but she’d forgotten he needed his father’s love too.
Nathan hadn’t given him that love. He wasn’t there when Liam was born, when he took his first steps, when he was sick, or when he was treated unfairly.
For three years, Nathan had been absent from all the important moments of Liam’s life…
Liam used his little hand to wipe her tears, his own eyes red and teary.
“Mom, don’t cry. We don’t need Dad. I’m happy just being with you…”
Stella rarely cried in front of him. Even when others treated her unfairly, she stayed strong for his sake. But this time, she couldn’t hold back.
Seeing Liam like this broke her heart.
The two hugged tightly. Outside, Anna couldn’t hold back her own tears.
She wiped them away, shaking her head with a sigh. She wasn’t sure if she was talking to herself or Filippo.
Nathan will regret this one day…”
Stella stood up and gently placed Liam on the bed, careful not to wake him.
Her eyes were swollen from crying so much. She sighed, covered her eyes with her hand, and took her phone to the bathroom.
A knock on the door interrupted her, and a servant entered.
Miss Collins, something’s wrong with little Liam.”
Hearing this, her legs gave way, and she nearly fell to the floor.
What happened?”
He’s feeling unwell…”

Before the servant could finish, Stella rushed out of the bathroom. Lam had collapsed in the halfway near the bathroom.
His once–beautiful face was covered with bruises around his eyes and mouth.
Liam…” Stella stumbled to his side and picked him up from the flock. His eyes were closed, his face pate, and his lips devoid of color. His entire body was cold.
Liam, wake up. Liam…”
It felt like she was transported back to the past, to the moment when Liam had shown signs of illness. He’d collapsed the same way. lying unresponsive on the floor no matter how much she called bin
Call an ambulance. Help me call an ambulance…” Stella, pleaded.
Due to Liam’s severe condition, Stella tried some emergency measures she remembered, but nothing worked. Liam didn’t regain
consciousness.
At the hospital, outside the emergency room.
Liam had already been taken into surgery, and Stella was waiting outside.
She stood in front of the operating room, her eyes fixed on the large doors.
She didn’t dare blink, her frail figure appearing so fragile and heartbreaking.
