Stella’s hand froze just as she was about to knock on the car door.
Even she could tell what was happening, and certainly Alaric inside the car could too.
She heard him speak urgently.
“Jenna, you’ve been drugged. I’m taking you to the hospital right now!”
But inside the car, Jenna clung to him, beginning to sob.
“Can’t wait that long… Uncle Al, I’m burning up… Please, please take me… I need you inside me… Only you…”
The young woman’s sweet voice, cracking with desperation, struck Alaric’s most vulnerable nerve.
After years of using every ounce of his willpower to restrain himself, hearing Jenna’s explicit plea finally shattered
his control.
The man transformed into a beast, forcefully pushing her down.
Stella watched as the car began to rock violently, hearing the girl’s crying transform into gasps, then pleading, and finally helpless whimpering.
The man showed no signs of stopping.
A bitter smile twisted Stella’s lips.
In her previous life, she and Alaric had been married for twenty years, yet their intimate moments had been few
and far between.
Even their later monthly encounters had only come about after she’d begged for it as a birthday gift when she turned thirty–five.
She had always assumed Alaric simply had little interest in physical intimacy.
But now, listening to the intensity coming from the car, she finally understood.
It wasn’t that he lacked desire – he just had no desire for her.
Stella turned away.
Perhaps this was for the best.
In this life, everyone would get what they truly wanted.
Stella returned to the party. Two hours later, as the event was winding down, it was time for her speech as the host.
